Comfortable and Relaxing Stay

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: The pool area and beach were lovely and the food was good (the steak restaurant was our favorite). Service was excellent as well.
Cons: Rooms could use updating but clean/comfortable overall. Give more choices in mini bar and provide wine by room service-only wine available was for fee
My boyfriend and I enjoyed 5 nights at the Iberostar Cancun. Great stay!

Great stay

Everything about this place was pretty cool. You don't have to leave the hotel for anything unless you'd rather party out in town and pay for beverages. They have entertainment throughout the day for adults and children. From Ines the sweetest room attendant to Ana the awesome pool waitress we had a lot of fun. All their palm trees are coconut filled. I asked if I can try one out and for sure I thought they'd say no since they're up pretty high. But lo and behold upon checkout there was two huge coconuts waiting for us. Thank you for that kind gesture Star Friends. The only reason I didn't give this place all 5's was because the ocean water here is too rough. You can still get your feet wet but they advise not going to deep since the waves come crashing pretty hard here. You have to go to another beach where the water is calmer to really swim in. Aside from that we'd definately be back. My 8 year old especially enjoyed it. Thank you Iberostar for some great memories!

Personal attention was excellent

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Food and on site activities. Availability of beach and pool chairs. Didnt feel like I had to get up at 6 am to reserve chairs
Cons: Reception was impersonal and inflexible. Did not feel like I was at a 4 or 5 star resort. Treated as though I was lucky to just get a room there
Location: Planned tours are available but the bus stop to the city is right outside the hotel. Bus drivers great and tell you when you reach your destination.
Once we got through the check in process, the hotel was great. We were a party of 15-mother/daughter trip that we booked through expedia. We expected 2 beds per room as that was what we had booked and that was what our reservation stated. However, when we arrived, the hotel manager informed us that it was not guaranteed so one family got a double bed that was not as comfortable for them. Management was very inflexible and unwilling to work with us (we heard other people checking in that were upset they had received 2 beds instead of the one...go figure) Once checked in, experience was awesome. The hotel was small enough that we had the same waiters every day who remembered us and knew our preferences (especially the coffee). The entertainment was fun and the "Star Friends" kept our teenage girls entertained with all kinds of water games, sports and shows. We took one day to the Iberostar on the Riviera Maya. On arrival and seeing the thousands of people fighting for a beach chair, the girls looked at us and asked if we could go back. The buffet food was above average and they had grills scattered throughout that made fresh omletes to order, chicken, fish, etc. I would return to this hotel

Great hotel except same foods every day!

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Cons: Variety of foods on different days is BIG PLUS
We enjoyed everything (room w/ terrace upgrade, pools, kid areas, beaches, service, etc), except we got tired of eating same foods for 6 days. They do allow you formal dinners at the steak house or sushi/hibachi restaurant, but reservation is difficult to get.

Decent hotel close to the beach.

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: The rooms were very clean and the outside staff was very friendly. The Spa in the lower level was beautiful.
Cons: Possibly better communication about everything that is offered.
Location: There are great restaurants (Crab Shack) and the outside vendors about 1/2 hour away were a lot of fun to haggle with.
When we first walked in, the lobby was amazing. The check in staff were not overly friendly but nice. Being new to Iberostar, we were not familiar with how reservations worked for dinner. We didn't learn until our second day that you have to reserve the restaurants far in advance. Therefore, we were only able to go to one of the four restaurants on our last day. They also did not mention that there was an outdoor theatre for entertainment every night. They told us we should have read the brochure when we questioned that. When you're traveling with six people, you very focused on getting the rooms close together and that everyone is settled. Just to be told what was available to you would have made the experience much more enjoyable.
