OK hotel but next door to a demolition site !!!!!

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Great outdoor facilities including pools, bars and great beach access. The Spa offers what can only be describe as the best ever relaxing massage
Cons: Unfortunately they MUST close down a third of the hotel during the demolition period as that section of the hotel isn't useable.
Location: The hotel is in the heart of a night club scene . Although this wasn't for us it was no bother. 40hp(75kpm) Jet Ski hire available across the road
The hotel under normal circumstances is in a great location with nice facilities, right on the beach. However, it is a bit tired and the new owners are clearly doing their best to correct this. When we booked the hotel it was still owned by the Hyatt hotel group (Hyatt Regency) and we were informed by Expedia of the new name and ownership. What we didn't know was that Hyatt had bought the disused hotel complex next door and were undergoing a 2 year demolition project before building what will become a spectacular development on what is possibly the prime location in Cancun. After being woken at 7am to the sound of 3 Caterpillar diggers working flat out was not ideal to say the least. BUT, in the defense of the hotel staff they did everything within their power to relocate us. I'm sure that we were the lucky ones as accommodating the 100 or so others that complained after us wouldn't have been easy. Out of interest I will be following other feedback for a while on this one. Good luck to the staff on reception as they will need it !!!!

Location is the only good thing

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Hotel was remodeling so there was noise in the morning. All of our keys stopped working. There was 2 crews for cleaning up, one for the beds and baths and the other one was for the mini bar. So I would have dirty cups or not enough towels and I had to be chasing the right people. They will kick you out of the pool by 8, kind of sucks since you are there for vacation. The location is the only thing good about this place. Will not stay here again and wont recommend this hotel. Not to mention we were four families staying at this hotel. For seven days I kept on foing t9 the front desk. Not the way you want to relax.

Wow! Awesome hotel

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: We liked the location, the staff, the restaurants, the views, the rooms. Everything!
Cons: The front desk is understaffed. The cocktails at the beach bars were a little weak and overpriced.
Location: Location is terrific. Lots of dining, shopping, and entertainment within walking distance, but the hotel was so good, it was hard to leave.
For couples, we would highly recommend this hotel. During our two week vacation, we stayed at two other hotels in addition to Krystal Grand, and this was our favorite. Location is terrific. You have all the action within walking distance. There are lots of dining, shopping, and entertainment choices nearby. However, we never left this hotel. The hotel was recently renovated and its 5 star quality. The rooms have been updated and are 5 star; clean, quiet, private, amazing views, and spacious. The amenities of the hotel are also very nice. We loved the pool and the complimentary towels. There are lots of dining options here too, and the food was excellent. The staff was also very friendly and went out of their way to help you. At check in, I would highly recommend participating in the points program for food purchases that they will offer. You pay $100 dollars and get credited double for food purchases. You can use this credit at all the restaurants and bars at the hotel. We couldn't say anything negative about this hotel except they should add more staff to the check-in desk. For such a large hotel, they need more than 2 people checking in guests. The cocktails served at the beach bar were a little weak and overpriced too. We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.

Great location.

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: I liked the two pools and the entertainment team were superb.
Cons: Restaurant and bar prices are high, but if you go for the double your dollars promotion then prices are reasonable.
Location: Great location next to a great beach and clear waters. Nightlife close by, but we did not hear it during the evening.
We spent nearly three weeks there, from the end of June to the 17th July. We would go back, and miss it already. We had one of the Altitude rooms (which was booked as a Regency Room through Hyatt before Krystal Grand took over). This then gave us access to a continental breakfast each morning and cocktails from 5 to 7 pm. Breakfast was useful if you have children as you cannot go too far wrong with juice drinks and toast/salmon/cheese etc. Light snacks accompanied cocktails in the evening. In both cases the selection was limited, but also useful if you only want a snack before going out. Access to this room also allowed you to drink tea and coffee anytime, and there were also chilled bottles of water for you. Jose was very kind and catered to our needs. Spa prices were high, from memory over 100 USD, so we did not use that service. Shame really because that great resource always looked empty. You also had to pay for WIFI, again, a shame really, so we never used it as you could go to Starbucks and have it as part of a drink.

Check In Disaster

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Food was great - expensive but great - definitely Enif at the front desk.
Cons: Where do I start. Service is extremely slow. Prices are too high. Couldn't swim at night - pool was full of kids that weren't even staying there.
Location: We only went to the La Isla Mall - total joke. The prices were out of sight, sales people would not leave you alone. Too hot. Taxi - $20.00 R/T
We checked in late 7-10-14. Found out that our stay was not inclusive - our ocean view room was on the 1st floor overlooking construction. Our safe was broken - you could only use the frig to buy liquor - not to store anything. The night crew was not at all helpful or accommodating (borderline rude) so we had to walk across the street to an "Oxxo" store (similar to a seven eleven) to buy food. My sister is diabetic so it was imperative that she eat. It was truly the night from hell. There were only 3 small drawers for clothes and there were 3 of us. Lamps did not work.
