Good location, walking distance to Las Americas shoping mall and Cinema. Well priced, new, clean and modern design. Free breakfast, shuttle to aerport.

“Nice Hotel With Local Color”

In our vacations outside of the US, we prefer to stay in places that is slightly away from the tourist zones which are dominated by large hotel chains that provide basically the same "look and feel" all over the world. The La Quinta Inn is a new hotel in downtown Cancun, only 7 months old I heard, that some of the taxi cab drivers that we met do not know where it is located. Once we tell them that it is across the street from the Casino Palace, they knew. This hotel provides a clean room with slightly firm beds that I liked but my wife didn't, clean bathroom, a small refrigerator, a microwave oven and a small safe. The room TV displays only standard resolution and most channels are in Spanish except for a couple that had American movies in English with Spanish subtitles. The place was usually quiet but sound insulation could have been better. Breakfast was free at hotel restaurant and there is a small bar in the lobby but no margaritas. The hotel staff is helpful and spoke pretty good English. It is also handicap-friendly which is one of our criteria for choosing it. There is a courtesy shuttle to and from the airport. We were impressed with the quality of the food that was served by the small restaurants around the hotel and in downtown Cancun. The only disappointment with food was in an Italian restaurant in the Hotel Zone. If you are looking for a place that gives more local color to your vacation, La Quinta Inn is probably for you.

“Nice area, disappointing room...”

I'd stayed here about 1.5 years ago and had a room on the front of the hotel with a street view, while my friends (also under my reservation) had a nice enough room with a lagoon & pool view. So, I chalked it up to the "luck of the draw." But this time I got the sucky-est room in the house... the sole room on the top floor, 100+ degree temp in the hallway and no window in the room... unless you count the oversized porthole in the shower or the window which looks into the elevator equipment room. But, the AC did work. (I'd have been gone if it hadn't.) Ask the staff anything (I had a native spanish speaker with me) and the answer is always "I don't know". Despite all this, the price is reasonable, it is in the hotel zone and a nice lagoon (not ocean) view from the pool or dock. If you get a nice room, count yourself lucky. If not, you've got my luck. But for it is one of the better priced hotels on the strip. One of the best things about this hotel is only 2 blocks from this hotel there is a string of little restaurants, one of them sells the very best fish tacos in Cancun. Don't miss it.

“Mixed bag”

A mixed bag. Great style, reminds one of 50s chic. Drab neighborhood, very limited in restaurants. And the windows don{t open, always the kiss of death in my book. Rooms weren,t ready, and I gave them 3 weeks notice.
