Paradise for beach loversPosted Oct 16, 2013
Pros: The location of this hotel is uniquely perfect.
Cons: The rooms could use updating.
Location: Isla Mujeres is a tropical paradise with great, friendly people and beautiful Caribbean beaches. Snorkel at Garrafon park to see tropical fish.
We were able to snorkel right outside the hotel room. This hotel is an island in itself surrounded by beautiful reef and sand beach. It is a little dated but is receiving renovations, and everything was very clean and neat. The location could not be better, Isla Mujeres is laid back and relaxed.

Romantic, Peaceful, Breathtaking ViewsPosted Sep 17, 2013
Pros: The breathtaking ocean views.
Cons: Could use some minor upgrades as far as furnishings.
Location: Located on a reef on the northern tip of Isla Mujeres. Rent a golf cart and explore the island. Enjoy the beaches. Relax and enjoy your trip here!
We stayed here 1 night so we could explore the island and beaches. We stayed in Cancun but took the ferry over on our own. We wished we had stayed at least 1 more night. This place has the most gorgeous views I could ever imagine. It was INCREDIBLE! Hotel staff was very friendly and the food and drinks were very good too. It's not all inclusive, but it's fairly inexpensive. Drinks are $4 but the bartender offered 2 for 1 specials. We shared a dinner that was AMAZING for about $70 US dollars. 2 lobster tails (both large), steak, 2 chicken breasts, fish, with rice and vegetables. VERY GOOD. too much food. But the most impressive thing about this place is the views. Tranquil beach on one side and the crashing ocean waves on the other. We stayed in one of the villas with an ocean view. The room was not as updated as most people would like, but it had a rustic feel that I appreciated. It had a mini fridge and microwave. A shower, but no tub. It has air conditioning which is a huge plus. It was very quiet and peaceful. Can't wait to go back!

Not a new hotel...but acceptable and comfortablePosted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: Pleasant staff members. Beautiful views.
Cons: More open availability on Interval International. Wash cloths in rooms would be nice. Need a knife sharper than a butter knife in rooms.
Location: Good if you like to be away from the center of town. Within walking distance to downtown , shopping and eating.
Had a nice stay in a clean comfortable room. Not a new hotel but refrigerator kept the drinks cold, shower water was warm and had enough pressure. Breeze from ocean was wonderful.

Villa right on oceanPosted Sep 16, 2013
I have stayed here before - but Roxanna - supervisor, told me she was mailing me the watch I left in my hotel room. I have yet to receive it and it has been over a week.

Needs better beds and AC to be 4 starPosted Aug 25, 2013
Awesome/beautiful location. Would be a 4 star hotel if the beds were be more comfortable and the rooms had central AC. They had these floor units that never fully cooled or dehumidified the room and required their water tray to be dumped every 4 to 6 hours. Sometimes they leak on the floor. I stayed in the main tower. I heard the villas are nicer. Walking distance to everything you need. Not a bad breakfast buffet and bar menu.

TOTAL TRANQUILITYPosted Aug 23, 2013
Pros: Hotel staff & tranquility
Cons: The beds, beach access (walking down sandbags is not the safest way)
Location: Shopping, good restaurants, accessible transportation (cabd & golf cart rental)
The hotel staff was extremely accommodating. My father has problems with mobility and they were very very helpful! The food was good and very accessable and a good variety. Unfortunately, the dark side is that the bed was extremely hard and the portable air conditioner in our room leaked so badly that it had to be mopped at least three times per day. the location of the property is ideal to do absolutely nothing but relax in total tranquility! If you're looking for constant partying this is not the place for you however, space I sure tried on the ferry will take you to the main part of Cancun.

Great location. Run down hotel.Posted Aug 16, 2013
Pros: Location. Beaches. The pool was excellent
Cons: Looks like a financial issue. Maybe the hotel cannot afford to keep up what it has. Too bad it could be a really nice place. But I guess if I am being
Location: You can arrange a snorkel trip and excursions from the hotel. But we found that the staff was not very honest about our options. We asked the staff At
At first glance the Avalon reef club looks great from the pictures and even first impression. Mainly my issues were: Room. The facilities and the room were definitely run down. The mattress was extremely hard as other reviewers have mentioned. But we did manage to sleep quite well Regardless. The linens and towels were old and stained. You only get two stained towels to use Per day. The small kitchen area is sparse. You only get coffee the first day and then has to pay for any extra coffee. Location of our room to the water was great though we love to watch the waves in the evening. Also, our telephone did not work when we asked to move rooms the Staff was willing to help us move but did not seem eager to fix the problem. Service: the food was very mediocre. Menu did not offer any local or fresh food options. Very basic including nachos hamburger fajitas quesadilla and breakfast was very mediocre as well. Breakfast buffet did not include bacon only chopped up hot dogs. Prices were okay but our main complaint was the service. I think that this was a slow time of year. The servers and waitstaff seemed reluctant to help us. Did not seem eager to bring us food and drinks. One Server even rolled his eyes when I asked for water with my meal. Location. It is a Four dollar cab ride from the ferry. Must cross wooden branch to get to hotel from the street. I would not stay here again but I would stay closer to public beach or other hotels and maybe visit the Avalon Beach to snork

Hotel with a beautiful viewPosted Aug 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
My stay at Avalon Reef was a wonderful experience. The hotel was big, and it had its own beach. In order to get to the hotel, guests had to go through a bridge which gave the whole place a sense of privacy. At the end of the bridge there was a security guard, so that made me feel safe at any time. That allowed me to sit by the beach by myself at 5:00 am to watch and enjoy the beautiful sunrise. The room was kind of small but clean. The air conditioning was not working well, but they fixed within an hour.

Breathtaking beaches!Posted Aug 12, 2013
Pros: Location! Location! Location!
Cons: The rooms could use some new furniture.
Location: Almost everything is within walking distance!
The hotel is a little worn, but very clean! The Staff were working on the grounds constantly. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. The Avalon has some of the most beautiful beaches that you will ever find. We spent our days snorkeling at the Avalon's beaches. We seen 10x more marine life there than at Garrafon park! If you want a 5 star resort with all the luxuries.... stay in Cancun. If you are looking for a beautiful, secluded get away with a more authentic feel...this is your place!
