fresh remodeled hotelPosted Dec 16, 2014
Pros: great staff
Cons: go back to warm and friendly service it just felt COLD impersonal
the riu cancun received a facelift recently. It was not a hit with us it lost its warm Spanish charm it now feels like a cold metallic modern facility. staff are still great. food adequate. We will change hotels next trip. this was our 7th time in this hotel and our last.

Nice resort - small beach!Posted Dec 10, 2014
Pros: Staff, staff, staff - Look for Rene for he will take care of you!
Cons: Booked a king size bed - unfortunately I didn't know that meant two double beds pushed together! Imagine our surprise during our 30th anniversary.
Location: Hotel zone, shops, food, night life all close by.
From check in till check out the staff was amazing throughout the entire property. The food and beverages were endless!! Great variety with a different theme each meal if you choose. There is one main issue that will prevent us from ever returning to RIU resorts and that is the false advertisement of the bed - be aware if you thought you were going to enjoy a king size, your going to be extremely disappointed.

Friendly and great staff, average hotel.Posted Dec 9, 2014
This was our first all inclusive experience so we weren't sure what to expect. The hotel itself and the restaurants are beautifully kept and very clean. The staff was beyond awesome and we really loved the entertainment in the evenings that was provided. The beach is beautiful and the location is not bad. The negatives: our room looked nice but everything was very wet feeling, including the bedding. I think this was partially due to the lack of a fan in the bathroom. We kept the ceiling fan running a lot but the AC wouldn't let us change the temperature so it was too cold for us to have it on at all. There were some little bugs in our room crawling out of the ventilation system but we just ignored them since they were mostly on the ceiling only. The food was very average at the buffet, they have a wide range of options and the buffet presentation is beautiful, unfortunately most of the food doesn't taste as good as it looks. By the end of our vacation, we pretty much knew what was good and what wasnt but it left us with limited options. The restaurants that you have to make reservations at are better, we did really enjoy the steakhouse. Lastly, if you want to get a tan, your timeframe to do so is limited because (at least this time of year) the sun goes down behind the hotel around 2pm depending on what chairs are available on the beach. If you're lucky, you might catch sun until 3 or 3:30 if you got the furthest spot out on the beach. Overall, this was average to us.

Was a pleasant stay overallPosted Nov 30, 2014
Pros: The overall cleanliness and diversity of food
Cons: More maintenance is required for public bathrooms and automatic doors and elevators
Location: No need to leave the resort but if you do there are many nightclubs and restaurants nearby and plenty of adventure activities as well.
The staff was wonderful. We had intermittent elevators the entire week and being on the fourth floor this caused a lot of stair climbing. The WiFi internet access was down our first three days which was incontinent. Our room was well designed and the bathroom/shower was large with plenty of hot water. We had a larger balcony with a terrific view. The food was diverse and plentiful. Only one brand of beer was offered at the resort and most of the various harder alcohol was mid to lower end brands but it was a never ending flow! The on-site activities staff had an all day schedule of events and worked hard to get ALL the guests involved in something.

Very loud, not relaxingPosted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: The staff and cleanliness was awesome.
Cons: Noise control
Location: Awesome supermarket right across the street above a garage. Like a Whole foods or a Metropolitan Market, very upscale. Also lots of malls.
The biggest complain I have was the noise at ALL HOURS day and night. We slept with our slider open and people were so loud until 3am, we could hear them on the 12th floor. So we had to shut the door, then we just heard the slamming of the hall doors all night. They cater to a younger party crowd. Not for me.
