I just recently arrived back from our family vacation at Riu Caribe. Our vacation at Riu was not great.
Our rooms were clean and well maintained. No complaints when it comes to our room and the cleanliness. The pool and beach were nice as well. To give you a bit of a background, we are a Mexican American family but we had 3 family members that flew in from Guadalajara, we are all fluent in Spanish and my brother in law is white.
However, my complaints is with the actual hotel servers, reception employees, entertainment and overall service.
To begin with, one of my family members is disabled and needs wheelchair accessibility. Days prior to arriving to our vacation I called the hotel to let the staff know that we needed special accommodation room, so they could have it available when we arrived but they said they only had 5 rooms in the entire resort with special accommodations but that they would make a note. We arrived to our vacation and update they did not give us a room. So then I let it pass but did ask for a shower chair when we checked in. I had to ask reception 3 times in order for them to provide one to him. In which they then proceeded to tell me they could provide me an accessible room but it would be a downgrade to our reservations, in which I declined. It’s very sad to see how it’s considered a downgrade, they should offer the same services.
The servers/service was not great nor did they ever make us feel special in anyway. I have traveled to other parts
