Beautiful hotel and beach, but food sucksPosted Oct 27, 2014
The beach was very beautiful, view was breathtaking too. Alcohol drinks were great and staff were all very friendly. However the food tasted mediocre. Avoid raw food (sushi, steak, etc) and water not served in a bottle/fresh juice if at all possible, unless you want to spend half of your vacation hugging the toilet.

It met the requirementsPosted Oct 24, 2014
Pros: Location the beach, the accommodations, the decor throughout, the swimming pools, the staff, everyone willing to help- the food great place
Cons: A little better orientation as to where all the facilities are- especially the bathrooms outside of the room. A better explanation of tipping.
Location: This is a tourist area- lots of shopping- dont miss Chi Chen Itza- a definite must snorkel the second longest reef
Overall- she required luxury, being waited on, comfort, a beach, great food, and adventure mixed with decompensating: the Riu Palace Peninsula scored the best in all the areas. The hotel is immaculate and our room was wonderful- the view of the grounds and the beach were breathtaking. The food in all of the restaurants was wonderful- if you like rack of lamb- i mean if you really like rack of lamb- the italian restaurant is a must. The staff were always willing to go the extra mile- I will name only two Alex and Miriam - they are just two examples-. Do not miss ChiChen Itza and even snorkeling on the second longest reef in the world. The entertainment at night ranged from wonderful- Il Divo- to a magic show where you just hoped that they would not come back. This is a great place for all ages.

Pros: The staff n service

Service was beyond what I expected. Laura at the customer service desk made everything extra special with her warm welcoming smile and willingness to assist. It was was birthday....and she made sure that everyone at each restaurant I visited was aware....even gave me a nice birthday cake. Definitely worth it!!!! Kudos to Luara again.....and the entire staff at RIU.

Nice clean place, way over crowdedPosted Oct 24, 2014
Pros: The adult only infinity pool was really cool. The food at the VIP restaurant was top notch!
Cons: Friendlier staff, especially the grounds staff and bar staff.
Location: It is not far from all the shopping and restaurants/night clubs, just 5 min bus ride.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the room was great. Ocean side, does not mean ocean view, especially in the adult only vip area. The staff don't acknowledge you unless it is in one of the restaurants. Room service food could use some work, the food at the VIP restaurant was outstanding though. Tons of people here, so if you are looking for somewhere romantic and relaxing, this is not the place.

Beautiful hotel with good food and friendly staffPosted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: Beautiful hotel, staff was super friendly, property spotless.
Cons: Better nighttime entertainment. The show the staff put on was great, the rest of the nights..not so much.
Location: Took ferry which was only a 5-10 min walk to Isla Mujeres. Wonderful day trip! Island beaches are beautiful.
Stayed in the adult only villas. No view of the beach from our villa, there was another villa in front of us. So ask for a view of beach if that's important to you. Rooms were very nice and adult only pool was great. Staff all around was super friendly, and the property well maintained. Food was great, no complaints there. Drinks seemed to be watered down, but not the end of the world. Wasn't really a party hotel, it was more on the classy side. Special kudos to Max from the main dining wait staff, and Juan from the entertainment crew. They provided us with lots of laughs and happiness:) Would definitely go back without hesitation.

Beautiful hotel on a white sandy beachPosted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: Just about everything. High-end finishes, incredibly nice and courteous staff, spa services, white sand beaches, warm water and more!
Cons: The beds themselves could be more luxurious. Perhaps pillow top, or any type of foam instead of spring.
Location: About a 25-minute drive to Cancún Airport. You'll pass an entire strip of shopping malls, flea markets and an all-in-one outlet called Mexican Outlet.
This hotel is a gorgeous experience located steps away from a white sand beach with clear, warm water and direct access to the island of Isla Mujeres, located about an hour away by ferry/boat. Isla Mujeres itself allows for a slew of activities, including swimming with dolphins, private pools, beaches, shopping, zip lining, snorkeling and so much more. It's all added cost, and not included in the price or package the hotel offers, but it's all quite affordable and as accessible as can be. The hotel restaurants are great, and I'd highly recommend Tamales, the in-house Mexican option, whose staff are quite funny and engaging. The manager will even personally pour you complimentary shots of tequila. The hotel also includes spa services, and the staff from top to bottom are as courteous and accommodating as I've come across. Any questions you have, including about the surrounding areas, they're more than happy and able to answer, and even the smallest concerns or questions you'd have about the hotel itself they can speak to and do everything in their power to get right by you. I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone, be you the adventurous type who wants the water activities, or the lay-back type who just wants to kick back with endless cocktails on a beach, soaking up the sun. Riu Palace Peninsula can give you either... or both!
