Very nice and relaxing hotelPosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: cleanliness and welcoming staff.
Cons: A few more activities options and evening entertainment.
Location: Mostly in a hotel district but quite convenient to the airport. Will need to catch a bus or taxi to the markets or other shopping/restaurant choices.
Extremely clean and well run. Staff went out of their way to been genuinely friendly and helpful. Food was very good and plentiful at the multiple restaurants and outdoor venues. Many option drink choices and they don't make you feel guilty for trying them all! Not a lot of entertainment, so this is a hotel for relaxing and a peaceful vacation if that's what you are looking for. Modern and almost art deco in ways, this is place the feels comfortable but kind of special at the same time.

Nice hotel terrible food.Posted Feb 24, 2014
The hotel and facilities are nice. The staff were very helpful and polite. Unfortunately dining at the hotel is not enjoyable. We stayed here once before and hoped things would have improved but they hadn't. The food is extremely bland. The cuts of meat are poor quality, and the steaks etc are small. It's too bad because the servers try really hard, though the upsell on the wine is very annoying. We ended up eating off resort on multiple occasions. There are good restaurants in walking distance a block away at the Ritz.

Secrets The VinePosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Everything. The staff was just excellent and always willing to do anything needed to make our stay pleasurable.
Location: Secrets is a short cab ride to downtown Cancun, but we stayed on the resort.
This resort is just excellent. It's an adult-only, all-inclusive resort, and the amenities and food are to die for. They offer free wi-fi if you want to stay connected, several restaurants to appeal to any taste (I'm a vegetarian, and I was never hungry and didn't have to eat the same thing twice in 5 days), and bars with any kind of drink you can think of. There are four different pool areas to choose from with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. There is also a dedicated beach area with service. The rooms are spacious and very modern. The showers have two heads; one rainwater, and one in the wall. The bed was so comfortable, I was able to get good sleep my entire stay. We used the spa two days; I got a chocolate wrap, and my skin was so soft afterward that I couldn't stop feeling it. There are many activities throughout the day if you want to participate, but if you're trying to relax, you can avoid being around them, too. Every night held a different show from magic, to comedy, to live music.

Best resort we have ever stayed at.Posted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: the staff was phenomenal. Many restaurants and bars. Planned Activities. Cleanliness. Relaxing atmosphere. Everything about the resort.
Cons: don't change a thing
Location: Mall within walking distance.
My wife and I went to Mexico to meet some friends. We stayed at a resort in the Riviera Maya that was not up to our standards. The resort we were at was riddled with issues. We called Expedia and asked to be moved to another resort that we had stayed at previously in Cancun. The next day we went to this resort. It was a Sunday. The management said we did not have a room and must leave. This was despite having a confirmed booking. We called Expedia. They said this we could stay at Secrets. From the moment we arrived at Secrets, we were treated like royalty. Despite the harrowing experiences to get to this resort, the staff jumped through all the hoops to insure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The staff is phenomenal. The rooms are clean and modern. The views are incredible. The food was very good. We have stayed in 7 resorts, and this was hands down the finest resort by far. There was ample activities planned. The beach was well manicured. The gym overlooked the ocean and had modern and clean equipment. The overall atmosphere was relaxing. We were never bothered with time share or promotional people like in other resorts. No attention to detail has been overlooked in this resort. Their is a sports bar, wine bar, coffee bar, pool bar, places to get food anywhere, and a helpful staff in every direction. We highly recommend this resort.

Fooled by other reviewsPosted Feb 18, 2014
The food was awful. Service was lacking. Entertainment staff was boring and Annoying. Very disappointed. I read all of the reviews and was so excited to stay here and I was definitely tricked. I have been to cancun a lot and stayed at various 3.5-5 star places and this place was bad. The rooms were nice and it was clean and new, but I get the most excited about the good in Mexico and the overall Mexican experience. We almost left the first night after having dinner, bit decided to try it out another night. BreAkfast was good, but all of the restaurants for dinner are horrible. Even the guacamole and pico de gallo is bland. If you don't care about food then the hotel is fine. Reminded me of south beach in Miami. Super corporate. The crowd of people were super boring too. I'm used to going to Mexico and the entertainment staff being amazing and having water games and trivia and fun things around the pool. It was hard to get good service too, we had to constantly seek out the waiters or waitress's if we wanted food or drink. No one was dry appreciative of extra tips either. They barely said thank you and would forget about you the rest of the day. I do have to say the spa was great. We got a couples massage and I would go there again if we planned on staying there.

Exceeded My Expectations!Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The beautiful setting, all inclusive approach and the excellent service from the entire staff combined to make a great package!
Cons: Need instructions on use of the lightening system in the rooms. Print on light switch was difficult to read to select which light to turn on.
Location: Chichen-Itza Ruins tour was quite interesting.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Secrets The Vine Cancun! Service, food options and ambiance all made our time there conducive to a wonderful, relaxing Valentine celebration.

Really nice.Posted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: Really everything.
Cons: Air condition could be cooler and we would have loved more island music instead of the generic club music at the pool.
Location: Take a bus for $1 north about 2 miles to the mall. It's HUGE. Rent a car and go to Playa Del Carmen.
My wife and I went here for our 20th anniversary which is near Valentines Day. Everything was awesome. Food and drinks were perfect. Service was great and servers we're kind and happy and helpful. No attitude whatsoever. I HIGHLY recommend having the romantic dinner. Any waiter will have info on this for you. You'll get overcharged for a bottle of wine, ($60-$150), but the experience is so awesome, it's worth it. We had an entire restaurant to ourselves. Our waiter was only for us. Candles all over the floor. An amazing dinner that lasted about two hours. Beach was very clean. The pools are beautiful and there are plenty of chairs. The property is not sprawling, which we love. Take the bus for a dollar to Turtle Beach, then take the ferry for $20 to Isla Muherris. Then rent a golf cart for the day for $50 and go shopping and bar hopping. Soggy Peso is easy to find and a great bar. We've done a lot of all-inclusives. This was the best.

Modern and sophisticatedPosted Feb 16, 2014
Good things are staff aims to please and are very attentive. Room modern and clean. All rooms have at least partial ocean view. You will not go hungry; room service and wifi are always available and free. Beach is beautiful. Nice adult crowd not too rowdy. Mostly couples. Pools are nice. Bad things -Loud music always playing at pool. Bed a little hard for my taste.
