Quality medium size resort in an ok location. Posted Nov 24, 2013
The Sun Palace hotel is near the end of hotel row. Traveling from the airport it's one of the first resorts you encounter. It's location is fine if you're planning on not venturing out from the hotel; however, if you plan on going anywhere it's a city bus ride, or taxi ride. The resorts further down hotel row are more in the thick of the action (shopping, bars, restaurants, shows , etc.), and are more convenient. The facility is well maintained, but has the feel of being looked after by Joe home repair guy, and not a professional facilities staff. For instance, while we stayed there they added a metal corner to the stone tile surrounding the elevators. This corner was meant to cover some broken tile edges, and protect against future breaks. It worked fine, but was poorly done, and not correctly fitted. It was attached with silicone that was smeared. Nitpicky, yes, but not something one would expect in a high end resort. Still, overall the resort was beautiful with lots of glass, and great design. (Pic attached) The staff were accommodating, smiling, awesome and super nice. Even Edgar at the 1500.00 credit explanation desk made every attempt to gently and respectfully do his job (and coerce us into sitting though some presentation) ... without imposing. We did not "fall for" the presentation offer. We did use some of the credits, and were pleased. Based on other reviews we were cautious. There was no need to be. Food and drinks were good... Overall, great hotel.
