Food was alright but never offered the deserts on the menu. Restaurant service was ok but beach service was amazing. Best beach and swimming around cancun. Good value for the price.

Excellent staff, warm and welcoming. One of the very best stretches of beach. Wide, clean, easy walk to places. Food was good though I prefer buffet to ala carte. Room was specious and well furnished. Good value for the price. Not much negative. Night entertainment was okay, not great. Pillows were overstuffed and hard. Neck ache every morning.

This property needs to improve there entertainment desperately and also buffet options along with bars are terrible. I would not return unfortunately and feel like I wasted money there.

Don't let the hotel sell you a time share.
The resort is decent but make sure to decline any "offers" from the hotel. They will take hours of your time to push you to buy a time share or something like that.

The entertainment was ok and pleasant. the in room bar was always well stocked. It is advertised as all inclusive but it is not as there are different levels of inclusiveness.

The staff were outstanding. Even though they meet thousands of guest they acknowledged me by my name when i approached them. They were very helpful answering questions and giving suggestions. Their tour team made sure we got to do what we wanted. I will go back for another fun fill week.

The employees were great but need more entertainment by the pool and better choice of food. I spent more time outside the hotel since it got boring the 2nd day.

The wait staff on the beach, especially Jose, was the best we have ever had and we have been to Cancun 25 times. All of the staff was wonderful which made this trip special. The beach is incredible and the rooms were remodeled nicely. Another big plus for me is that they had excellent decaffeinated coffee available at breakfast which is highly unusual anywhere in the Carribean, I usually settle for a packet of Sanka and hot water or bring my own and make it in the room. The live entertainment in the lobby nightly was also a nice touch. The 2 negatives are the pool is small and taken over by children so we spent every day on the beach. The rooms are lovely and have a great view of the most beautiful ocean but they do not have actual balconies that you can sit on and enjoy your morning coffee and evening drink. The only balconies are on the lagoon side.

I would stay at Sunset Royal again. The front desk staff where nice and helpful. The hotel was modern , very clean and the food was good as well. I think they should have more nightly entertainments. Overall it is a friendly resort, has a great time

The amenities on this property were less than sub par. There was construction which meant lots of banging, the beds were very uncomfortable, the food, well let’s say that you could have eaten cardboard and it would have had more flavor. I will say that the staff was great at the property, one thing that we did not like was right after you check in you are told to complete the process by taking to additional staff and come to find out it was only to try and get you to buy into their time shares. We received phone calls to our room as well from them trying to sell us things. The view from our room was the best thing about this hotel and the beach was amazing as well, I will say that this was the first and absolute last time we will ever stay at this resort, if a resort is even what you should call it…

Location for this resort is great. Walking distance to the entertainment area. Staff was friendly. This resort is lacking some basic necessities such as dinner buffet. Only 2 nights is there a dinner buffet, the rest you have to wait to be seated and there can be a long wait to eat. No swim up bar and only 1 pool. Great entertainment and fun nightly shows for free. Don't be surprised by the high hotel fees and taxes upon arriving, much higher than the rest.

Terrible noisy coming from the kichen of the hotel restaurant almost from every midnight to morning, we have asked front desk, but nothing changes, can hardly sleep for even a single night during our 4 days stay, if anybody go there, avoid the ground level or maybe lower level rooms, too too too noisy.

We booked the Sunset Royal for our last night in Mexico, after 2 weeks of Tulum & Playa del Carmen. It was our first experience of a large all inclusive resort. It was pleasant, the room was epic & the food was abundant! It wouldn’t have been for us for a longer visit because it was v noisy in the day with mostly families & loud family ‘entertainment’/dance music by the pool (however, this might be what many people are looking for).

My wife and I stayed for two nights at this hotel after our flight was delayed for a few days. Pros: Nice beach, great waves, rooms are big and have a kitchenette Cons: Food is not good, I don't know how to describe it, but it's really bland and there is very little variety. My wife is a vegetarian and there was almost nothing for her to eat. The atmosphere inside the hotel is weird. It has a very old feeling. The restaurant in the center of the hotel felt more like a dining room at an old age home. The outdoor dining area was right beside the only pool, which was FULL of kids...from open to close...full of kids. One thing to keep in mind is that this is an RCI hotel...meaning that most of the people who are staying there have a RCI timeshare and have traded time or points or whatever they do to stay at that hotel. If you are staying here as and RCI member, traveling with kids and planning on making a lot of your own meals in your room, this place might be ok. Otherwise, I would not recommend staying at this hotel...

The only thing I did not like is that the restaurants were never on time. they say they open at 7:00 and we planned to have breakfast before leaving on an excursion but were never able to eat because at 7:15 they still were not open and that was the time the bus was scheduled to pick us up to take us on our tour. If they would open up at the time its says they open we would have had at least 15 minutes to grab something to eat.
