What a great place to stay

Posted Dec 18, 2014
We were just in Cancun at The Royal Cancun in November 2014, and had a wonderful time. It was such a great place for people with kids. We took our 8 and 11 year kids. They had so much fun meeting new friends and just enjoying their home for a week. With the calm waters there in the lagoon area, I never worried about my kids once while they were in ocean. And, if you want some more waves and action, you can just hop the shuttle to ride down to the sister hotel, the Sands. Our lovely maid such a great job cleaning up after us day after day and keeping our home clean, especially in light of 2 very messy children. Also, a big shout out to all of the wonderful staff who took great care of us, but also Angel and Eder in the kid's pool bar area, as they took such amazing care of all of us. We would definitely go back to The Royal Cancun.

Great place on the beach and close to everything

Posted Dec 16, 2014
Pros: on the beach
Cons: the food in the main court was always the same. It would be great if they could change it up. we were able to order off the menu which was good.
Location: Golf was a key to our stay
Hotel staff were great and accommodating .The pools were clean and the rooms were as well. We spent time at the Royal Sands which was a added pleasant feature

Great hotel; GREAT staff!

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: The towels and sheets could have been softer on sunburned skin!
Location: If you stay at The Royal Cancun, definitely take the free shuttle to The Royal Sands for your days at the beach; but come "home" to The Royal Cancun!
My mom, niece and I stayed for a week at The Royal Cancun. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa, overlooking the ocean. The accommodations were fabulous, the food was great (La Trattoria was ESPECIALLY great) but I cannot say enough about the staff. From Manuel, our concierge, to Freddie and Fernando at La Trattoria, to Adolfo at the beach restaurant, to Teresa, our maid, to the groundskeepers on the property . . . they couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. Everything was PERFECT!

It's nice

Posted Dec 14, 2014
Location: You have to ride a bus to see anything. You are on the edge of the resort area. Closer to market 28. Far far away from wet and wild and dolphins.
Air conditioner is loud and we were placed in a room that faced the highway so we heard a lot of road noise. Kitchen and living area were barely used. It is clean, staff is friendly, but no hot tub,

Nice being able to use all of the Royal Resorts

Great trip - loved the area and being able to use all of the Royal Resorts. Definitely recommend this travel package. Same time zone made it an easy travel day in with no jet lag.

Beautiful, but...

Posted Dec 10, 2014
Pros: Very clean, friendly staff
Cons: A little more night time entertainment, a least sports bar to stay open later, chose between bracelets or room keys, room service
Location: Pirate ship was great, we took the ferry to the island and rented golf carts and snorkels well worth it
The resort is beautiful and very clean! We travelled with a group of 21, two families of 5 and a family of 3, as well as 4 other couples without kids. The resort is becoming all-inclusive and has a bit to learn, they require you wear a wrist band as well as have your card out for every drink or meal you have( we had soo many receipts to keep track of by the end of our 10 nights) Also room service was a little strange, you are allowed to order 2 wine per adult, we had 8 adults in our room one evening from 4 different villas and we ordered 8 glasses of wine( 1 per person) they wouldn't bring it because that was too much wine for the room, we explained 8 adults were in our room and we could all sign, still said that's way too much alcohol for 1 room, finally they gave in but only if we ordered food too, so we had to order food to enjoy a glass of wine together...which just was a waste of food. The restaurants all close by 10, and as wonderful as the service staff are by 9:50 they seem impatient, and pretty much pull the table cloth out to get you out! The Italian restaurant is amazing! A must do! Mexican and captain cove also very good! We enjoyed our time at the royal sands very much! i would suggest that the Royal resorts find a happy medium for those who enjoy the quiet resorts and those who enjoy a little more evening entertainment!

Cancun trip with family

Posted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: Room was very nice. We had 2 bedroom 2 bath which was great for traveling with 2 kids
Cons: Service in restaurant & bar was very slow. Could not get a soft drink or alcohol before 10 am. We enjoy drinking mimosas with breakfast & we could not
The room, 2 bedroom with 2 bathroom was great for families! Loved the extra space however the resort was a little farther away from the shopping/restaurants that we enjoy. We did utilize the bus with about a 15 minute ride. The service at resort was very slow & the food was ok. The resort offers shuttle service to sister resort, Royal Sands which is amazing!! Excellent service & great food there. Highly recommend royal sands!

Not the best.

Posted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: I will say the rooms were very clean.
Cons: The wait staff needs to improve.
Location: The hotel was away from everything.
We booked an all inclusive package. The staff needs to improve on their service, the tips are already included so the staff acts like they don't care if they wait on you. A lot of the restaurants are not on the premises and some have stricter dress codes so you don't have long pants and a dress shirt you cant get in. We only took shorts .Also the wifi kept going out. Overall a big disappointment for the price paid.

Very good value. Quiet resort. Quiet water.

Posted Dec 5, 2014
Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful. Large rooms. Good mix of people - not many crazy partiers, they would be bored at this hotel. Calm water.
Cons: The taking of the room card-feels like you are held hostage until they return, and if you want one drink you have to wait for them to run the ticket.
Location: This is on the very north part of the hotel zone. You can walk maybe 1/4 north on the beach and 1/2 mile south, and then no more as it is rocks.
Great place for those wanting swim & snorkel; pretty mellow atmosphere. Calm water allows for snorkeling off beach, sunfish sailboats, paddle boards, kayaks. Reciprocal use @ The Royal Sands (TRS) & free shuttle is big plus-2 resorts, & 2 stand alone restaurants for price of 1. Highly recommend Captain's Cove(on water-Lagoon side=sunset) & Hacienda Sisal, both part of AI. 2 rm suite=spacious & comfortable. Mstr 1 king, other bdrm 2 singles w/ a separate sink, good closets. Common sink outside bdrm doors, toilet & shower behind separate door. Queen Murphy bed in main room. 3 chairs & couch, coffee table, round dining table w/ 4 chairs, full size frig, oven, micro, utensils, cookware, plates, etc.fully stocked.House keeping was thorough.TRS is bigger resort & has the surf & deeper beach>boogie board, more action. TRS has 2 pool tables & foosball in large sports bar (seats 50-75). TRC sports bar seats 25 tops & no games. Trattoria @ TRC is also good-Victor's the man. We didn't eat at Char Hut@TRS, only lunch @ pool side restaurant-on par w/ La Palapa @ TRC. TRC sports desk is good. snorkeling equip, tennis, towels, bikes. The Market-well stocked/very reasonably priced. TRC Cons: -Breakfast is good, but always same. -Wrist band for AI, AND take room card for any orders & only return it with ticket for $0, but oppty to tip. Sat. free shuttle is limited & @ TRC no water sports/bikes.ONLY Corona & 1 other dark beer & well liquor included in AI. Cab Sv not good, go w/ the Malb
