Beautiful property, very well maintained.Posted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: The room was beautiful with great views. It was handy having a well-stocked store at the hotel.
Cons: Customer relations
Location: There weren't that many restaurants to walk to, but taking the bus was great. Also take the ferry to the neighboring island.
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms large and super-clean. We did feel that the staff were a bit controlling and pushy. We received 3 phone calls in our room reminding us to come and talk about time-share. On our last day the doorbell rang and it was someone wanting to take an inventory of the kitchen. I thought that gave a bad impression, like they didn't trust their own guests. But all in all it was a nice trip with lovely and relaxing surroundings.

wonderful vacationPosted Mar 2, 2014
Location: Location was very quiet, and there is a bus stop right in front of resort you can take to where ever you need to go and it is only a dollar.
It was a wonderful time and a beautiful resort. Staff was wonderful. The market that is on site is great and has everything you need and cheap. The resaurant by the ocean was very calming and the food was wonderful. Can't wait till I go back.

Royal Cancun vacationPosted Feb 23, 2014
Pros: The suite was clean and spacious. The outdoor space was beautiful. The pool was good. The staff were very friendly.
Cons: Get rid of ATM in lobby or tell people about the hefty fees to use it before they do. I paid over $60 in fees. Stop timeshare pushing.
Location: Xel-ha was great. Golf at puerto cancun, very affordable but concierge won't tell you about this golf course.
This is a beautiful well-maintained place. If you are looking for exciting ocean action, stay at the Royal Sands, Islander, or Caribbean, not The Royal Cancun. My teens did not go in the ocean at all as the part cleared of sea weed was only waist deep and there were no waves. This is a very quiet resort, better for older couples or families with very young children. We spent very little time at the resort as it was more exciting elsewhere. Also, the concierge service is mostly to push the time share presentation, which was really annoying and yet another reason to stay off resort. We spent two wonderful afternoons at theRoyal Sands beach which was amazing. For the right people this resort would be great, just not families with teens.

Away from the Hotel ZonePosted Feb 23, 2014
Cons: Their restaurant prices were insane! I live on Long Island, NY - their prices were comparable to what we pay here when we eat out. Need Cheaper Menu
Location: Location is at the opposite end of the hotel zone, which is nice if you don't want to be bothered by the night life. It was a quick bus ride.
This was not our first visit to the facility. Not much has changed since we first visited 20 years ago. It was very clean. The staff was great. However this is not really a "hotel" as you typically know it. There are many timeshare guests. Although you get your own unit which includes a kitchen, that is ALL you get. Not even an ice machine for guest use. You can either make ice cubes in the trays in your freezerr (really, how long will two trays of ice last in Mexico?) you can't make it fast enough to keep up with your needs. When I asked the staff at the Palapa Bar if I could have a few scoops of ice for my portable cooler, he told me no - I had to buy it for $ridiculous $ a bag in their market. After a little prodding, he gave me three scoops of ice. You would have thought I was asking for the moon! I felt like I was getting my pocket picked at every turn. Food/drink prices at the hotel were high. Food was ok, drinks were good.

Nice beach.Posted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: Very quiet and relaxing with wonderful staff!!
Cons: The air conditioner could be quieter!
Location: Nice location with only a city bus ride away from many things down the hotel zone!
The staff was very very nice. Loved the beach there. Would love to go back but we hear they are making this hotel an all inclusive and not sure I would because of that cost because my husband and I don't eat or drink that much.
