3rd year back and planning next year's trip
Posted Jan 18, 2013
Pros: Love the swim up suite, the beds and the spa!
Location: Near a small shopping mall across the street, a Bubba Gump, Outback & Margaritaville restaurant!
This hotel is absolute top notch! This was our third year and we are planning next year's trip now. We love the facility, service, and restaurants! They definitely treat you like royalty!

Beach front resort. All rooms face the beach.
Posted Jan 16, 2013
Pros: Location to the beach and the upscale quality.
Everything, room, food, service in the hotel and on the beach is high quality. Staff is very friendly and very accommodating. The resort is adults only. I found they cater to a younger clientele than on a past visit, 20s and 30s age group. We did choose a good week to vacation. Only on our last day on the beach was it a little too loud for just reading and relaxing. The only drawback was that I booked the room with a king size bed through a vacation website and when we arrived at the resort we were told they did not guarantee bed size and we ended up in a room with 2 double beds.

Very good food, they should have a shuttle service from the airport as we had to wait hour and half for a van.

Best Vacation Ever!
Posted Jan 10, 2013
Pros: All-inclusive meant free room service. We had breakfast in bed for most of our stay.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
Location: Shopping at La Isla is a cab ride away. Swimming with the dolpins next to the Dreams Cancun Hotel.
Even though we had rain for the first half of our 6 days trip, we had the best time. It was due to the awesome service and delicious food. We even bought a vacation package, so that we could come back again to the Royal and try other Real Resorts. We got a free room upgrade for the first night and loved the space and 2 person jacuzzi so much that my husband and I decided to upgrade to the Royal Junior Corner Suite. The shows at the hotel was fantastic. The beach was secluded because the resort was only open to adults. We felt like we were the only two on the beach during some times.

Great stay, primo hotel!
Posted Jan 10, 2013
Pros: Really beautiful hotel. The staff was very pleasant, and tried to make our stay very comfortable. Excellent spa, we enjoyed the pilates class too.
Cons: Having to constantly be on guard to ward off the "time share" sales people just gets old. This is a high pressure tactic and it is poor.
Location: Did a snorkeling tour to the national park, it was fun. 2 trips to Cancun proper, lots of shops selling trinkets, not much to see.
This was our first trip to the Royal. Upon arrival we were heavily encouraged to upgrade our room to a swim out suite. After a bit of negotiation, we did upgrade to one of these rooms on the main floor. It was a beautiful room, and almost all of the hotel amenities were included with that upgrade. We would have been happy with the normal suite that we paid for though. As stated below, be on guard for high pressure sales tactics to buy a time share. It is really poor to have to ward this nonsense off on your vacation. Just be aware of this, it will come disguised as a "customer service" representative who you are immediately hooked up with right after arrival, and after 2 glasses of champagne. Time shares are not a good deal in my opinion, I'd much rather just book on my own. Overall a fantastic stay. We did have a tropical storm that lasted 5 days, so lots of rain and wind. This was just the luck of the draw with the weather. The food and drink were excellent and in very plentiful supply. Unless you are incredibly disciplined, you will gain weight, just work if off when you get home. The Mexico soccer draft was happening in the hotel during our week stay. This was not good as they basically took over the whole place, there were hundreds of media everywhere all the time. They were very rude during the dance performances in the evenings. We will avoid them like the plague when we come again. Always the first week of June, not sure if they always stay there.

It's a beautiful hotel. Take a collared shirt and semi dress pants for some restaurants.

The Royal in Palya and the twon of Palya is better
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Pros: Ocean view and rooms
Cons: They would not seat you in the reastruant when they had 1/2 the tables open.
Location: Amazing but most of the outside activitites are closer to Palya so you should just stay at the Royal in Palya. GREAT HOTEL and LOCATION
We liked the Royal in Palya way better. This is what they did different: 1. No fresh fruit in the drinks at the pool or anywere. The Royal in Palya did. :( 2. They were under staffed at the pool bars. The bartenders are random when they wait on you. The need to learn how to go in order around the bar. I would suggest Bringing a large insulated cup and you won't have any issues. 3. The reasturant tables were 1/2 empty and they would tell you there is a 40 min wait and if you had a large group they will not push the tables together. 4. The person at the 24 hour food place would not let you bring your food plate to your room, which is silly in a "5 star" hotel. She was not there 1/2 the time so it was random in enforsement. 5. We went to a wedding there and the food was cold and they did not ask you how you wanted your steak. Besides that the food was great!! The Ocean view is better then Palya and all in all it was a great trip. Palya just spoiled us.

Excellent All inclusive
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Pros: Service and hotel entertainment
Cons: Disco dance bar!
Location: Easy city busy ride to 28th street market and Ferry to the Isle. 10-15 min. walk to nice up-town mall.
Great resort for a wedding. We had a party of 19, the hotel amenities accommodated nicely to everyone. Musical performances almost every night, the staff was incredible!

Very good adult hotel, quiet and clean

I thought everything was really good, and if there was a shortcoming it would be that the drinks weren't very high quality in terms of the kind of liquor that was used. Bartenders were talented however and you can't exactly expect them to be serving grey goose vodka at an all inclusive. For the first time on a vacation I completely forgot about my responsibilities back home!
