Great hotel

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Pros: Very clean rooms and great view no matter what room you had. Pool area and beach were outstanding.
Cons: Any time we needed to go to the front desk it took the staff forever to wait on you. They were all very friendly however, except for Carmen.
Location: We were only there for three full days so we did not leave the resort.
The only negative thing I could say is one of the front desk people, Carmen, was extremely rude! The others were excellent.

Won't be back!

Pros: Pool area was lovely and beach beautiful!
Cons: You need a shuttle into Cancun ....this hotel is in the middle of nowhere! Too hard for older people to get up and down hill to bus.
Location: Worse thing about hotel is the location.
You are too at the hotel's mercy for restaurants.Taxi is too expensive to go intro Cancun. As you know a lot of the people are elderly and can not get up and down the hill to the Main Street to get a bus.The shuttle bus fills up pretty fast to Royal Cancun so you are left high and dry. You need a shuttle into Cancun .

Just adequate

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Convenience of market, pool and beach. Great view.
Cons: More comfortable furniture in the room.
Location: Lots of restaurants around in other hotels. Availability of tours and other activities.
The room was connected to the bigger half of a time-share suite. There was very little furniture and no place comfortable to sit but on the beds. There was plenty of space but nothing in it. The facilities are 20 or 30 years old and while they strive to keep things up, it does show its age. Also the floros inside and out are very slippery when wet.

Royal Islander

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Location, excellent staff, great value.
Cons: The internet ISP is not the best, but kit is free.
Location: This is the Mayan Rivera. The Mayan sights are amazing. Start with Chichenitza, then Xplor, Xelha, Xcaret.
The room is facing the beach. The resort is right on a beautiful beach. The staff tries to please, especially the waiters at the restaurants. There is a free shuttle bus between the Royal Resorts and your room key works at all of the Royal Resorts. The resort owns a travel company, Thomas More Travel which provides an airport shuttle reasonably priced. There is a pool with a pool bar and restaurants next to the pool. Since the peso is weak and the dollar is strong, the prices for everything is favorable for the dollar. There is a city bus line in front of the resort on Blvd. Kukulkan. The drivels put the pedal to the metal so hang on for a speedy ride..The restaurants on the Blvd are excellent!! Cancun is safe. Enjoy this place. I keep coming back to Cancun and the Royal Resorts. This was my 8th time in Cancun

Great Beach Location

Posted Feb 12, 2015
Pros: Beach location was amazing. And loved getting to use other Royal resorts.
Cons: Pool was average. Tours that were "free" often involved a sales aspect that was annoying.
Location: Right on the beach. On Hotel Row. Visit local restaurants as food better than what is at the hotel.
Had a relaxing experience. What can be better than being on the beach instead of in cold winter weather? Perfect winter escape.

Not much to write home about

Pros: The laundry
This is a budget accommodation. We stayed here one night and the most pleasant thing was the self service laundry - after 3-weeks of traveling that really came handy. I would not recommend this place to couples seeking a romantic holiday, nor to luxury lovers - the cheap rates makes that clear. This is a simple accommodation for those on a budget with big families or on a quick one night/day trip to cancun. Wifi only available in your room. Food is ok. Wait staff are very friendly as they always are in cancun. Front desk staff can do with a bit more practice smiling and being helpful.

Very nice hotel close to the beach

Posted Jan 29, 2015
I went with my daughter mid-January. I was pleased with our room, how spacious and clean. Loved the balcony, the state of the art safe, proximity to the beach. We ate at the restaurant, and it was good and pretty reasonable for an onsite facility. There's a grocery store too.The place was quiet so great for relaxation. We took the local bus R1 to go downtown. Overall positive experience.

Amazing Trip!!

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: The size of the suites, the pools, restaurants, staff, store and Christmas decorations.
Cons: I would like to purchase an all inclusive package if available at the Royal Islander Resort next time if it is available.
Location: The location was perfect. We were right in the middle of the hotel area. On New Year's Eve, David Guetta was having a concert on the beach near by!
We had an absolutely wonderful time. The suites were huge with adequate room for all 7 of us! We only left the resort once and honestly didn't need to leave at all. The Royal Caribbean is right next door, actually a few steps away, so we had 6 different restaurants to choose from. The entire grounds and beach were cleaned daily. All the kelp was even gathered on the beach and spread into the words "WELCOME"! We walked along some other beaches and their sand was not raked or clean at all. The food was delicious and staff was amazing. We are considering going back again next year.

A wonderful experience

Posted Jan 17, 2015
Pros: The amazing view
Cons: New hair dryer, toaster (didn't always work) and coffeemaker (very old).
The room was awesome -- beautiful view - beach front -- very clean -- nice amenities. We were able to get into our room right away. The staff was pleasant and cheerful -- sometimes the service by the pool was slow but still very courteous and cheerful.

Lipstick on a pig

Posted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: The layout was cool, sun decks and proximity to beach
Cons: Front desk, cleanliness, food
Location: It's Cancun, plenty to do
We stayed only one night. They have a hidden fee structure that is ridiculous. The front desk acts more like a watchdog than a customer service representative. The front desk makes you feel like they are doing us a favor, allowing us to stay there. The food is mediocre, the rooms was fine, bed fine however the LINENS weren't washed. They had hair on them, not just one, numerous. The bathtub water didn't drain from taking a shower, even the next day. It was more like a motel than the pictures. The pool staff were friendly and competent. This is a level 2 maybe super low 3 at best.
