"amazing and will stay again!!"
Alex and Mateo were welcoming, helpful and warm. The location was centrally located and right near great shopping, landmarks and sightseeing. It was raining and they pulled out new umbrellas for us to use. Lovely all around!!

Hotel Antico Doge

Cannaregio 5643, Venice 30131 - Map
"Beautiful historic hotel."
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Antico Doge Hotel. It is a beautiful facility, very elegantly furnished with pleasant background music of Vivaldi. The bathroom was also nice, though the first day we had water on the floor, but it turned out to be a loose nut on the drain linkage, and we were able to fix it. The hairdryer suddenly stopped working on our last morning. Breakfast was nice, too. Room was generally quiet, though we occasionally in the evening heard footsteps on the wood floor above us, but it was short lived. Staff was very helpful, directed us to excellent restaurants and helped arrange a tour.

Hotel Ca' Vendramin di Santa Fosca

Sestiere Cannaregio 2400, Venice 30121 - Map
"Well positioned hotel with friendly staff"
The Vendramin is in an excellent location making all the sites of Venice accessible whilst being just far enough away from the 'tourist traps'. We booked a budget package which meant we ended up with quite a small room but this did not detract from the quality of the hotel and the warmth of the staff. Special mention must go to the uber-helpful Tilly who really couldn't have done more for us!! Excellent breakfast each morning got the days off to a great start and allowed us the energy to explore this beautiful city with it's hidden secrets around every corner. This was a trip to mark our wedding anniversary and we could not have wished for anything better. Happy, happy happy.

Hotel Giorgione

SS. Apostoli, 4587, Venice 30131 - Map
From train station, you have to take a water bus to hotel. Ticket for water bus is about 7 euro (Sometimes they check your ticket sometimes they don't). It's about 10 minutes and it's a beautiful ride. Then walk to hotel is about another 10 min. Staff was great. They are very knowledgeable about what to see and where to go. Hotel is within walking distance of the city center and St Mark's Church/Square. NIce, full breakfast selection. Hotel has Venetian flare which we loved, very clean and well kept. They will also hold your luggage after you check out if you want to continue to sight see.

Pocket Guide: Cannaregio, Venice Historic Hotels

For visitors arriving by rail or by bus, Cannaregio is Venice’s front door and the start of the Grand Canal. It sees a lot of passing traffic in terms of canal boats and visitors en route to San Marco, but is otherwise quieter and less touristy than central Venice. Points of interest include the Ghetto area (the original Jewish enclave) with its museums and the majestic Ca d’Oro palace, one of the iconic buildings of the Grand Canal.
