No frills but lots of spacePosted Jul 14, 2014
This hotel is in the middle of exactly nowhere. The closest restaurant is 5 miles up the road. Thankfully there is a convenience store for essentials. The room was large and clean, looking more like an apartment than a hotel. Not much decoration, but adequate comfort. It gets the job done but doesn't have any frills.

Highly recommended!Posted Jul 6, 2014
We stayed at the Grand Staircase Inn for two nights in June. We really enjoyed our stay there. The rooms are very large and clean, the ceilings are high which makes the rooms feel even bigger, and the ceiling fan is a great touch to keep the air circulating when we had the windows open. Each room also has a microwave and frig. Having the store attached to the Inn is a real bonus because Cannonville is so small yet we were able to get the supplies we needed. The store carries some of practically everything and is open late. Tropic is only five miles away, so getting to restaurants is easy. Plus, the Inn offers coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and toast in the morning so you don't have to go out for breakfast. Bryce National Park is 16 miles away, and it is an easy drive.

Great night sky viewing!Posted Jul 3, 2014
The location is great. To the east of Bryce National Park and away from all light pollution. Night sky viewing is fabulous. In the morning, drive scenic byway highway 12. All the scenery, twisty roads, and tucked-away little discoveries you could want. Hotel is quiet and comfortable.

Overnight to BrycePosted Jun 23, 2014
Massive rooms with two King beds, microwave and large fridge. Breakfast was given even though not supposed to. It is spartan with toast and coffee. The nice owner asked us to take a couple of ice bags for our icebox (free) since we stayed there. Nice TV and amenities. Would definitely stay here again. It is not fancy but exactly what it bills itself as.

Trade off of inexpensive and inconvenientPosted Jun 16, 2014
This hotel is a ways from Bryce Canyon. There are hotels closer. We picked the Grand Staircase Inn because of it's price. While the other hotels are closer they are much more expensive. For us this was a good choice as it was clean and comfortable. There are no restaurants within walking distance of the Grand Staircase. We drove twice from the hotel to Bryce and ate near Bryce Canyon Park. It is not a long drive and for us this hotel worked out nicely. This hotel does not have 24 hour staff but does provide a 24 hour phone number if there is a problem Provided breakfast is toast and jam..

Very decent motel close to Bryce CanyonPosted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Cleanness of rooms, convenient location, friendly staff.
Cons: Breakfast is pretty bad. It could be way better just by offering something some cereal, juice and perhaps a piece of fruit or muffin.
Location: Bryce Canyon National Park is very close. No restaurants or shops near by except for the little store inside the motel.
We're looking for a cheap and decent motel to spend a couple of nights near Bryce Canyon National Park. This place has large rooms, with comfy beds, clean towels and linens, and it is only 20 minutes away from Bryce. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

This place grows on me.Posted Jun 1, 2014
Pros: The staff. They are truly nice people. The roominess. The pleasant breakfast. Walking into the store is almost like walking into my livingroom/kitchen
Cons: Jeesh. I dunno. Pictures on the wall? As I say, it is a pleasant place.
Location: Cannonville is about as small as small towns get. But Bryce, Escalante National Monument, and other places I want to keep secret, are nearby.
When I stayed here in 2013, my stay was pleasant and the staff were pleasant and helpful, checking items on the internet and making printouts for me,. The rooms are very spacious. My overall feeling was "nice but not extraordinary." Having stayed here again in 2014, I still say "not extraordinary," but definitely pleasant and a good value for the money. The staff really are friendly and helpful, this time selling me an old towel for one dollar so I could cut it as a make-shift poncho against an unseasonal snowfall in May. I have a growing feeling that the place is "homey," a home away from home. I do recommend it.
