Canyon, Amarillo Independent Hotels

Canyon, located south of Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle, is the home of West Texas A&M University; the outdoor musical drama “Texas;” and the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, the oldest and largest museum in the state. The 30,000-acre (121-km2) Palo Duro Canyon State Park is about 12 miles (19 km) east of Canyon. To the west is Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge, a valuable wintering area for migrating waterfowl.
