Good hotel

Pros: Nothing special.
After a long day making the round around Cabot Trail, we arrived at this hotel in the evening. It was nice to be able to have diner at the hotel itself. The free breakfast was reasonable.

Many steps to walk as no elevator

Pros: Clean
Cons: Willingness of some of the staff to step in where required. We should have never had to go get the towels if we required them.
Location: Not a lot to do in this area but was not concerned with it as we were only passing through.
Only 1 towel in the room. Had called the front desk as there was no answer in housekeeping. Was told that if I wanted more towels that I could come down to the front desk to get them.

A little over priced considering the condition

Pros: bed was comfortable
Cons: Pillows were uncomfy and small. Bathroom wall could use some attention
Location: Usual city things nearby ie shopping, sight seeing
Hot breakfast was little more than some cooked pancakes and little else. Room very dated. Seemed to be a little overpriced considering its condition

Pros: Day time staff was great.
Cons: Night time staff (including the male manager) should be replaced. Customers only remember the bad which overshadows the good.
Location: Location was great.
The day time staff was very good and helpful; however, the night time staff was cold and indifferent. Maybe the day staff should train the night time staff to be friendly, courteous, and helpful. I requested a pet-free about a month prior to arriving because of allergies. I made the same request when I arrived at 10:30PM. The lady was uncertain and simply did not understand the gravity of my allergies due to pet hair. I went as far as advising her that it could be a hospitalization if I were exposed to pet hair. She did not care, and her manager (I believe) simply GUESSED the room would be pet free. As a medical surgeon, maybe I should GUESS the outcome of his operation - not reassuring, not comforting, and not professional. I suppose a two star hotel cannot afford their guests the simple comfort of courtesy, understanding, and client service. I would suggest Days Inn hire staff that exudes warmth, compassion, and an underlying understanding of customer service than wasting money on fancy advertising to attract guests to their hotels only to offend those gullible enough to believe in how Days Inn will take care of travelers' needs.

Had a stop over here, quite a nice stay, decent value, nice clean room. Continental breakfast was good, fair variety, staff helpful and very courteous. Only thing the tip jar at the end of the breakfast like is tacky,,,,,if people are going to tip they will do say at the table. Just a thought not earth shattering

convenient location

Pros: It was a convenient location base for exploring the Cape Breton, Louisburg and Sydney areas.
Cons: cleaning the carpet and disinfecting the bathroom floor. eliminating the faeces smell in the corridor that lingered for at least 3 days.
Location: Fort Louisburg; Cabot trail
we were on the 3rd floor -- no elevators; smell of faeces in the corridor close to our room -- not very welcoming. bed was great large and comfortable but the carpet and bathroom floor felt dirty.

Clean Low Cost Hotel

Pros: Low cost which included a free continental breakfast which also included pancakes.
Cons: The hotel is overdue for an upgrade as it is very dated - from the 70's with no elevator.
Location: We saw a movie at the nearby Cineplex Cinemas and the Giant Fiddle is nearby.
This hotel offered a low cost option for our recent trip (July 12, 2014). Our room was clean but do note this hotel does not have an elevator and it is rather dated but it is clean and comfortable.

Downtown hotel

Great room. Days Inn offers children stay free option which is great unless a lot of noisy children are across the hall. Laundry facility was good. No elevator which is a problem if you have hip or knee difficulties.
