Dear David, We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. Most of our reviews are positive so when we receive a negative rating like yours, we pause and reflect on what might have happened. As I recall you arrived later than check-in time due to traffic and only stayed with us one night. You left right after breakfast the following day so we did not have a chance to speak about anything. Had we spoken when you first arrived we may have been able to rectify the situation by providing a different room that better met your expectations. After reviewing the room description on the 3rd party website, I noticed that it was not updated to reflect a recently renovated bathroom that included a walk-in shower vs. a jetted tub. I have updated this description to alleviate any misunderstandings regarding the room. In any event, we apologize that you did not enjoy your stay.

We are surprised about your review since these issues were not raised during your stay. We work hard to deliver a great experience for our guests. Clearly, this was not the case for you. Thankfully 97% of guests who have reviewed have appreciated our efforts and provided a 4/5 review.1. We did not detect a musty smell in the room before your arrival. We do have a dehumidifier in the room which may have needed to be emptied. Had you brought this to our attention we would have tried to rectify the situation. We do not try to cover up a musty odor with plug-ins. If the plug-ins were not of your liking, we would have taken them out.2. The A/C unit is a new central A/C unit. As soon as you notified me that it was too cold I immediately came over to see what I could do. I offered blankets, which you said were not needed. In the morning I asked how the A/C was, and you informed me that it was ok. We will continue to monitor to ensure that everything is working appropriately.3. The carriage house is located on Old Main Street. During the evening it's pretty quiet, however during the day it does get quite busy. Most guests are not here during the day as they are out exploring and spending time enjoying the Cape. Everyone may have different levels of sensitivity. I will note in the room description so that those who are noise sensitive will be aware of the room's location. 4. We work hard to keep the grounds maintained, but it has been difficult given the drought and water restrictions currently underway.5. Furniture and carpet worn. We will look into this and address it. This is the first time we have had this comment.6. Breakfasts. Most guests enjoy our breakfasts. We would have been more than happy to provide you with a tailored breakfast to your liking if you had communicated this. We would have liked to have the opportunity to address/ remedy the situation while you were here versus seeing this after your stay.

Given the lost revenue due to the COVID shut down and extra measures we are taking, we are keeping the inn clean and sanitized at the expense of the grounds/yards.
