Quiet location with great waterfront ambiancePosted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: Great location on the water, fair prices, nice clean rooms.
Cons: More towel racks would be appreciated. Some kind of central vending machines for drinks would help.
Location: The Red Inn is the only restaurant in easy walking distance - expensive and well worth it. Walk to the center of Provincetown in about 15-20 minutes.
The Masthead is an eclectic assembly of waterfront rooms and cottages, and no two are alike. Located in Provincetown's quiet West End, it is far away from any sources of food or drink with the exception of the very fine (and expensive) Red Inn, so be prepared to walk, bike, or cab for anything outside of the room except hanging out on the deck or in the water. The highlight of the location is the massive tidal flat in front of the rooms that goes on nearly forever at low tide. You can walk out on that exposed sand flat for the better part of a mile if you so desire, and there are many treasures to discover. The rooms are exactly as represented on the internet, and as this is our third time there we have worked our way up the food chain. You get what you pay for in terms of views and room size/amenities, which is fair and in general the Masthead provides a very good value for the area. The location is somewhat weather sensitive (if it rains you will need a car, a cab, or good foul-weather gear). Parking is limited and tight, but adequate. Most guests are mature couples of all kinds, with the occasional lucky young family. Families with teenage kids may do better elsewhere as there is little for teenage kids to do on location. We like the quiet ambiance and great presence of the water right at your door - if you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway on the water and are willing to walk a bit for food and entertainment you will enjoy your stay at The Masthead

Awesome ViewPosted Jun 9, 2015
A typical historic New England Inn--nothing at all fancy but completely adequate, especially for a short stay.

Uncomfortable experience.Posted May 26, 2015
Pros: location is close to everywhere and convenient
Cons: Maybe add a microwave ? and hair blower?
Location: next to beach... better to visit during summer time.
The room was Ok, but there is no where to use the hair blower because the power is unbearable. Bathroom to share is very small and no shower tub. Have to share refrigerator which useless... Has no microwave... It is close to beach and the lighthouse, good to go in summer.... close to the street you can hear car passing by and people outside talking. Front desk close very early... no further service they can provide...

Pros: Ocean view
Location: Short walk to center. Lots to see and do.
Quaint room with great ocean view. Room was clean and comfortable. Reminded me of summer vacations as a child. Loved it.

Surprise a no bathroom in unit. .Posted Apr 19, 2015
Cons: Electrical power
Only surprise was with the public bathroom. It was clean ,but we would not go bare foot in it. Also no outlet available for a hair dryer.
