Staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

Pros: The staff.
Cons: The room could have been cleaned a little better. Our wine was left in the glass and the glassnot cleaned, a water bottle was left almost gone.
Location: Good table was a new ce restaurant down the street and Portland is close by.
We were very happy with our room. We had stayed there 22 years and it had changed quite a bit by adding a lounge and dining room. Because of the snow I was unable to walk to the ocean but it was beautiful to look at.

A Quaint Getaway

Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: There are fewer rooms than you'd expect, as many are larger suites for families. They are spread out well, and the halls are nice and quiet.
Cons: The restaurant wasn't the greatest, and I wish we had skipped breakfast there. Dinner was tasty, but forgettable.
Location: The Portland Head Light (lighthouse) is only 5 minutes away, and makes for an amazing sunset. There's a nearby coffee shop, and scenic driving.
The hotel is quaint; just a short walk to the ocean on their boardwalk. A small restaurant with decent food. Relatively quiet, and in a peaceful location. This isn't a huge resort, but they do have a professional staff and that classic New England Luxury. There is a spa, outdoor pool, fire pits, bar, and a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Overpriced motel, 2* property with a 5* price tag

Posted Sep 10, 2012
Pros: The view from my rear view mirror
Cons: Tiny bedroom with nowhere to put anything
Location: Close to public beach
This hotel hasn’t been cleaned in months. The rooms had cobwebs in the corners, broken shower heads, missing light bulbs, dirty fridge, no air conditioning in the bedrooms and tiny cramped rooms. We were staying in one the cottages and they look nothing like the glossy photographs on the website. The service was terrible to nonexistent. The hotel is run by college students on their summer vacation that looked like they were severely hung over. Each evening the staff would deliver some cookies and then leave the door to the cottage unlocked while we were out so that my wife had to check that none of her jewelry had gone missing when we returned. There is a reason for the Brunch Menu. You had to wait 10 minutes to be greeted at breakfast to be told there is a 30 minute wait for a table. Once you got a table the food was a further 45 minutes to arrive. So a 9am breakfast finished at 11am. We had to constantly find our server for a round of drinks or get water for our table. Whatever you do don’t try and get a drink after 11pm as the bar closes. I would not recommend staying here as it is definitely not a five star hotel and the staff will leave you far from relaxed. The Beach is public and part of the nature reserve so stay somewhere else and save your money for something worthwhile and far more enjoyable.

A good Experience

Posted Jan 22, 2012
Pros: The food, location and the staff
Cons: Tbe creaks
Location: 100 yeards from the beach...
A good hotel - Great location - and a very good restaurant. Our suite was on the first floor - and when people were in the room above - it was very noisy, I beleive that the structure of the hotel must be old - and so it just creaks! But the staff were fantastic - and even ensured no one was in the room above us after the first night! We loved the food... It was a good experience,,

This is a hotel where all of the details are seen to very carefully. Charming.

My visit was early week when most hotels give lip-service to weekend expectations. Not this Inn. Hors d'oevres came with the ice delivered to the room. There was a turn-down service offered along with bottled water and cookies (free). The diningroom food was superb with wine-by-the glass offered along with the wine bottle being shown. And, the stemware was Riedel. The food perfectly cooked. A full breakfast came with the room, again with the food (Eggs Benedict) being perfectly served. The staff was superb, always addressing me by name and always very politely. If there was a problem, it was the tastefulness of the room appointments. Otherwise, it was an astonishing stay.
