Old world charm in a quiet setting

Posted Oct 23, 2014
Pros: The relaxed pace.
Cons: Some of the maintenance items could be done with more expertise.
Location: The hotel is convenient to a "Hop on-Hop Off" bus stop, around the corner from the Jewish Museum, and across the street from the Company Garden.
A stay at this hotel takes you back to the 20's and 30's when there was a certain elegance to staying at a hotel. While 'old world' the hotel has been modernized. To reach downtown and V&A, a cab is necessary. However, that did not present a problem to us. There were lots of good restaurants in the area. The grounds are lovely and our balcony overlooking the pool area was a delight. In addition, our room was very spacious.

Charming Colonial style hotel great room and staff

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: see above
Cons: Nothing , it was just about perfect!
Location: Spectacular table top mountain that forms the backdrop for the hotel ,great shopping and dining at nearby Waterfront shopping and dining precinct .
The Hotel oozed class -in the traditional English Colonial style .Our room was very generously sized and the staff were ,without exception ,exceptional . The hotel is a short drive from the Waterfront shopping and restaurant but the hotels courtesy Mercedes and driver seemed to be at our beck and call . we very much look forward to returning to the Colonial in the not too distant future .

A great stay at the Mount Nelson - exemplary service, wonderful afternoon tea with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Upgraded on arrival to a suite which got the holiday off to a great start.

Lovely hotel gardens, huge comfortable room

Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: The relaxed atmosphere, the gardens and the breakfasts
Location: Not near to shops but not far to get a cab anywhere, would rather have this location with the beautiful surrounds than be close to shops
When next in Cape Town, I will be staying at the Mount Nelson, I have stayed at most of the other favourite 5 star hotels and the Mount Nelson is the one that stands out in all aspects.
