Awesome gem of a hotel for a weekend away
My wife and I stayed here for our 20th anniversary and found it to be a great hotel, the location was close to Long street with all the restaurants and pubs. We enjoyed the walks to the Waterfront and was close to Camps Bay. The breakfast was included and was great. The service and the rooms were fantastic, the only small issue is that there was only one movie channel but all in all a great experience.

Check-in staff were very polite and professional. And my room was roomy as well as clean and comfortable. I also enjoyed the full complimentary breakfast that was provided in addition to the use of the onsite bar😄

The bathroom needs serious upgrading. I stayed in both a single room that had a full bathroom with a shower and a bath, whereas a family room for 3x people had the shower over the bath, which meant that only one person can use the bathroom at a time. It also doesn't make sense to have the shower over the bath for a family room. It is also very slippery. There was also no space to put toiletries as the glass shelve was removed. There was also no hairdryer available which is not good for a hotel of your class. The wifi was also very very poor!

Shameful accommodation
Room not clean, nor bathroom. Broken toilet holder, shower & dustbin in bathroom. Linen did not fit bed that was dirty underneath. I was mugged outside the entrance of the hotel & thrown on the ground & my necklace stolen with no security or assistance from the hotel, except 3 days later after I moved out. Breakfast - they can't even fry an egg! TV channels provided were not according to the website. You have to go to the foyer to get tea/coffee & WiFi & they call this a 3 star hotel!!

Not worth the price
This place is not worth the price. The only positive attribute to my stay was the included breakfast and the lovely chef greeting me. This hotel needs major upgrades, WiFi only in the lobby area and it was very weak, the business area was just 1 computer which didn’t even work.

Lovely staff. Bedrooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Good breakfasts! Wifi not available in bedrooms which is inconvenient but not a major draw back.

It took a long time to check in and really unkindly. The building looks old, dark and dirty, but the room is normal to sleep just one day for business. The best is only breakfast!

The hotel is well priced and centrally located to access the city centre. The staff is phenomenal. The breakfasts are also extremely good. The rooms are in need of some upgrades. The bar couches are desperately in need of a good cleaning. We noticed that the stairway to the upper floors were quite dirty. The trash bins in my room still contained trash from the previous guest.

OK Hotel Somewhat Close to Sites
Our room was reasonably large, clean, but not very well furnished. The plumbing was ancient; handles would drop off the taps and the toilet tank ran continuously (surprising in a city that is on the verge of a serious water shortage). Our room had no hooks or hangars for towels etc. There were no shelves so we kept all our things in our luggage and on the floor. Our room window didn't have a lock. The safe didn't work. The fire exit door in the hallway kept slamming in the wind because the lock was broken. The staff were helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. The location is a 15-20 minute walk to the tourist area on Long Street. There are many good eateries nearby. There is free wifi only in the lobby.

The Hotel was accommodating, friendly and central.
My experience was great in that the location was super central to all of Cape Town's coolest spots. The staff made special arrangements upon check-in to make sure that our bags were safe, and a room was available immediately, starting the trip on a good note.

They were accommodating and enjoyed the manager but it was not a very nice hotel, smelled and needs restoration... Really enjoyed the breakfast buffet!!!! The best part of the hotel...

The staff was accommodating and very hospitable. The hotel needs a refurbishment. The carpets stank , in the dining area and general. The pool area was a dismay. They have an ironing room! I felt like I was in a boarding house.

Worst Part of Our Trip to Cape Town
We booked this hotel for four nights. When we checked in they charged us for all four nights. Then when we got to the room it stunk of mold, I couldn't allow my pregnant wife to spend a night there. Upon informing the manager that we wanted to check out early, they refused to refund ANY of our money. I am currently trying to work with Expedia to get some of my money back. The Lady Hamilton Hotel is dirty, aesthetically unappealing, and is managed in a sleazy manner. However, they take excellent pictures for their web advertising.

Disappointed for the money I paid. No elevator for a 4 story building. Had to wait for someone to open the gate for parking as opposed to automatic gate. The check in time was too late @ 2 pm. And the shower stall was a little clogged and drained slowly coupled with a short shower curtain.

Needs some serious work
The cleaning staff are excellent, the breakfast staff are helpful, and the front desk staff are very polite. Other than that. There is nothing good about this hotel. We had 3 rooms between us and two of the rooms were changed mid stay. The problems we had were: 2 broken safety deposit boxes 1 broken hairdryer 2 broken air cons (one leaking) 1 cockroach 1 room with no curtains over one window so very, very bright first thing in the morning 2 toilet doors that wouldn't close (in one (room 115) you had to lift the toilet lid to close and open the door) 1 broken shower (cold tap didn't work) In addition to this there were a few broken lights in the corridor and the wifi doesn't really work in any of the rooms. Whilst polite, the front desk staff were very unhelpful. I had to ask 6 times for my safety deposit box to be fixed and each time they knew nothing of it. Eventually I asked to be moved rooms. I also booked double rooms but these were in fact twin beds pushed together with separate duvets. The hotel's location is good but it is honestly a dump. The tour guide for our wine tour laughed that it is the 'Fawlty Towers of Cape Town'. It needs some serious work to bring it up to a 3* standard. It is cheap but really, Cape Town is a very cheap place, your money is far better spent elsewhere. Even if it's slightly further out, taxis are very very cheap.
