Lanzerac Hotel.

Pros: The outside dining terrace.
Cons: The bedrooms.
Location: The towns of Stellenbosch & Franschoek.
This hotel grows on you. They have delightful dining options, the food excellent & the ambiance of the whole Estate is first class. Our only problem was with the bedroom & bathroom which, whilst very spacious, is looking rather tired however, we understand, that extensive refurbishment work is being carried out during 2015. Altogether, we enjoyed our four days at the Lanzerac immensely & would not hesitate to go back.

Fantastic room, huge, all the comforts you would want. Staff helpful, arranging transport, bookings. Breakfast and dinner delicious. Could not fault.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay in this hotel. It felt luxurious from the moment we arrived on the tree lined drive. The staff were all friendly and accommodating taking a fussy child in their stride. We loved the restaurant, meals on the terrace and in the deli. The wine tasting was great. The only criticism would be that the restaurant menu was too restrictive for 4 nights so we ate out on the last night.

Das letzte mal war ich vor 5 Jahren hier. Damals war alles den Vorstellungen entsprechend. Diesmal wurde ich bitterlich enttaeuscht. Beim Business Meeting wurde die Getraenkebestellung vergessen und nach 30 min sind Wir aufgestanden und weggegangen. Im Dachboden vom Zimmer 216 waren Nagetiere die Uns jeden Sonnenaufgang lautstark weckten. Das Abendessen brauchte 25 minuten. Normalerweise kein Problem aber wenn man hungrige Kleinkinder dabei hat ist es zu lange. Beim Fruehstuecksbuffet fehlten mal die Milch und andere Artikel weil kein Personal das Buffet betreute.

My wife and I decided to take a coupple of nights to celebrate our aniversary at Lanzerac. We booked a luxury room, only to be given a classic room, then told that the room was a luxury room when it was obvious that it was not. We were told that our room had a private pool- which was actually shared between three rooms and had any number of gardeners and pool cleaners making noise and certainly disturbing any sence of privacy. The room was dusty and had major cobwebs. The restaurant got our room service order wrong and delivered the wrong meal. All in all the basic little details were missing, no welcome fruit in the room, no paper in the stationary pad, no salt in the salt sellers, all in all we felt that for a five star hotel the amount of mishaps was inexcusable. We were left feeling taken advantage of, and we won't be coming back!

Hotel benefits from stunning setting but service is extremely poor (no water on our second day and no one in the hotel apologised or tried to keep us informed about repair status). Overall the hotel is in need for some maintenance.

kein 5 stern haus

im vergleich mit dem preis keine leistung und vor allem es handelt sich nicht um ein haus mit 5 sternen bestenfalls 3! vollkommen hilfloses zwar freundliches personal ohne führung bsp bei der bitte um im bosmans (bestes restaurand in sa in den letzten jahren) einen tisch zu reservieren, ruft das mädchen am empfang dort im restraurant - nach nachrfage wo und was das bosmans ist - an ohne sich vorzustellen, das hotel zu nennen oder sich sonst irgendwie erkennen zu geben und fragt "gibt es für heute für 3 personen einen tisch?" - natürlich nicht - durch das white concerge service der kreditkarte bekamen wir dann natürlich am selben tag einen tisch ...
