Intercontinental treatment at Best Western pricePosted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Everything: attentive but uninstructive staff, fabulous rooms, good food, great service, spectacular location, wonderful view, proximity to good food.
Location: Penguin colony, shark dives, whale watching, 20 min to Cape Point Nat'l Park, good restaurants
What a gem! If I could give them 10 Starts I would. The facilities are new and well maintained and they run the place with an intimate, comfortable feel. These guys genuinely appreciate the business and treat guests accordingly. They have a fabulous daily hot and cold breakfast. We did a shark dive early one morning and even though breakfast was not served until 7 am, Darwin (GM and chef) prepared a breakfast box (juice, muffins, snacks) for us and had it waiting for us at 5:45 am. Well done Magellan! Simonstown is about 5’C cooler than Cape Town. It is a picturesque little town on the False Bay side of the Cape. It felt very safe; we saw plenty of people out running, biking, kayaking. There are good places to eat nearby (Dixie’s has great meat, Bertha’s has good everything, Seaforth has good fish, and there are fish and chips places scattered about). We rented a car and would recommend that to any visitors. Rental cars are very reasonable driving on the left side is not that hard. The roads are well marked, speed limits are low, and drivers are quite courteous. The drive to Cape Point is about 20 minutes from Simonstown; the airport is about 45 minutes, so is Table Mountain.

Top quality and great servicePosted Mar 17, 2014
We stayed here for 4 nights and had a really marvellous experience. First class treatment all round. Beautiful location. We would love to come back to the area and would definitely choose this place to stay again.

Little hard to find it, but worth every penny...Posted Feb 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
Top notch service, beautiful view of the bay and clean, modern style. We loved the appearance of the hotel from inside and out. The building is new, very clean and furnished comfortably with modern amenities. The open concept combined with comfortable seating and great views of the ocean and harbor were just the beginning. James and Darwin were incredibly welcoming to my wife and I. Warm and friendly, they showed a great enthusiasm for making their guests at home. Darwin made us an incredible dinner and breakfast on site in the sleek and modern kitchen which is open to the lounge area, so it feels like you are being catered to at a friend's home. A very modern and fancy home that is. We would recommend staying on the property for meals as well if you are there as a getaway. The food is great and eating on the patio is fantastic. All in all, this place is a great value. IF you get a chance, the luxury suite on the top floor is fantastic with a private balcony overlooking the ocean.

Real LuxuryPosted Feb 10, 2014
Cons: Directions to it.
Staying here was a real treat. We had one of the ocean facing rooms. It was large, very well equipped and very clean. Bathroom was huge, very modern and great to use. The 3 main staff, Darwin, Samuel and Patrick were very attentive and great to chat to. Darwin cooks amazing food. Don't eat out, let him do it for you. You will not be disappointed.

what a gem!Posted Feb 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
I found this place my accident and it exceeded all expectations! The service is 100% personalized and the entire staff is there to help with anything you need. Book a seaview room for some of the most spectacular panorama views in the cape. Know that it is a 45 minute drive into cape town proper but its worth it!

Why go anywhere else? Magellan's Passage CapetownPosted Oct 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Magellan's Passage is nestled in a small suburb of Capetown with the famous Boulder's Beach Penguin colony. It is a small fishing village with the quaint feeling of being in another world. The staff at Magellan's was unbelievable- well beyond our expectations. Darwin, Sammy and James were the perfect hosts and made our stay especially memorable. If we ever have the chance to return to Capetown, we would not considering staying ANYWHERE else. Hidden Treasure!

Superb GuesthousePosted Jul 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
Magellan's Passage is a top class guest house -equal to a 5 star hotel but much more intimate. Our room was large, and very comfortable with wall to wall windows providing spectacular views over the Bay and ocean. Breakfast was yummy as well. The only reservation and its a minor one is that the guest house is a little out of town but this no problem if one has a car. Simon's Town is an interesting small historical site providing for a great stopover when touring the Cape Peninsular. I highly recommend both the guest house and the town for a visit.

Outstanding All Around!Posted Jan 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
My husband and I stayed at this B&B for a romantic getaway to Simons Town. I was a little wary because the pictures looked to good to be true, but what you see is what you get! The entire hotel is in pristine condition, the views are unbelievable, and the service was outstanding. The breakfast is fantastic (continental buffet and made to order options). It is about a 5 minute drive from Boulders Beach and very close to the main strip as well. We hope to stay again in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone!
