“Two Weeks of Perfection”
This is a great hotel in a great location. The staff are friendly, competent, and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped and very useful for "stumble-out-of-bed" morning coffee and a quick breakfast. The bed and ensuite bathroom was very convenient and there was ample space to store all the cosmetics and earth-moving equipment that my partner tends to bring along for these trips....I would come back here every time I go to Cape Town.
“Fantastic Location!”
I stayed in Mandela Rhodes for 5 days with three friends this past January. I cannot rave enough about the location of this hotel (central to EVERYTHING), as well as the staff. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and attentive. Staying with a group of four, the apartment style of the room was perfect - we had two bedrooms and two baths which was the ideal set-up for a group of four friends. It was cheaper than renting two hotel rooms, and more fun, as we had the common area, and a fully stocked kitchen! My only complaint was that the shower leaked.. the bathroom was a bit of a mess after each shower. However, this was a minor detail in an otherwise positive review. If I ever go back to Capetown, I would surely stay at Mandela Rhodes again.
“Great Hotel”
Great Hotel and great location. Proximity to most important places/restaurants/ stop for the hop on hop off bus/ Waterfront. A little note: the bellhop called for us an unlicensed expensive/small rutty looking taxi. We ended up taking the hotel authorised taxi just outside at the front of the hotel.
“Texans Loved Mandela Rhodes Place”
My family and I stayed at this hotel last summer. We were there for my 62nd birthday in July. Not only was the country beautiful , but the hotel was great. The food was excellent ( especially the breakfast buffet), the customer service excellent and the staff was warm, friendly, and professiojnal. The view from the room was not great but everything else was great. The decor in the room was beautiful. We plan to return in 2010 and will not go trip until this hotel is available.
“Cape Town's Finest”
I love this place. This was my fourth time there (in every season) and it is a wonderful place to stay. I have yet to use the spa but everything else is great. The real prize is the room itself...a deluxe room has two bedrooms, two baths a large kitchen/living/dining area that is great for longer stays. The breakfast buffet is fantastic...and a great start for the day...There may be no need for lunch after that spread. The music in the breaffast rooom was too loud and not to my liking but that is just the pimple on Cinderella....I highly recommend this place.
“Great hotel, unbeatable location”
Hotel is located across the street from City Sightseeing Red line and 2 blocks from Blue line. Across the street from Company Gardens and many other tourist locations. My studio apartment was beautiful, fully equipped and even with full size washer/dryer. Very modern and upscale! Buffet breakfast and roof top pool were great. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Capetown.
“Amazing Stay”
If only in the U.S. you were treated like this! Stayed in the two bedroom suite, as we are a family with three small toddlers. Location great, plenty of space in the room, kitchen to cook, laundry, excellent service, and CLEAN! Lots of marble in kitchen and bathrooms. Appliances delux, and thank goodness there are no TVs in the rooms! Upon arriving at the airport I realized I has left my Blackberry in the room. After a call to the hotel, the front desk person had my Blackberry in a taxi and at the airport within 30 minutes. Amazing!
“New downtown gem”
New hotel in a historic shell Great facilities staff need straining and how to find cabs but in time things will improve but a really nice set up
“Excellent cost x benefit”
Excellent hotel at a reasonable price. My wife and I stayed at the Mandela Rhodes for only two nights. High points were: ample and completely furnished apartment; absolute care with details; excellent breakfast included in daily rate. Very satisfied. If we ever get back to Cape Town, this will be our hotel!
“Great apartment style hotel in central Cape Town.”
I'm pretty much a hotel snob, as I travel for work a great deal. My standards usually surround the bed (linens need to be very clean and comfortable), service, and price. Mandela Rhodes was a refreshing surprise. It is actually a hotel full of apartments, which on a long trip can give you the space you might want. The bed was very comfortable (white duvet comforter) and clean, and the bathroom was great. The shower had excellent water pressure, and the shampoo/conditioner were good quality, as where there awesome towels. The location of this hotel was great as well. We had a view of Table Mountain from our living room which was beautiful. They have finished construction on the rooms, so it was quiet. The lobby area is still building shops, but the construction is not bothersome. Be prepared to feel like you're checking into your high-rise apartment, not a hotel. They have also added hair dryers in the rooms. The only negative is that there is no TV in the bedroom, which I'm way too accustomed, but it was a wonderful hotel experience.
