Pros: Hospitality
Cons: No coffee in lobby in the am
Location: Marvelous
Located next to the V & A Waterfront, this charming hotel is a quick walk to all the restaurants, shops, tours that are there while still being peaceful in the evening. Great location, unless you have trouble walking on cobbles or up an incline.

Great Location

Wifi: you get 35 mins free per person per day. It's good, but expensive to buy more. Room smelt a bit funny. Staff were excellent, especially the door man.

Pros: The staff were brilliant and the rooms are nice.
Cons: Only 35 mins free Internet per day and you needed to request a new code each day. You need tuition not to boil yourself in the shower.Paying4parking
Location: Perfect for the V&A Waterfront and the Cape Town Stadium at Green Point and major roads.
Good hotel offering value for money in a good location. Friendly staff who do all they can to assist. Nicely appointed rooms, albeit a little small with not a huge seating area for a family, although lounges and a playroom are available.

The hotel's location just a few minutes walk from the V&A Waterfront is ideal as it is safe and saves on taxi fares if you wish to go out at night. We were pleasantly surprised as the hotel has been refurbished since our last stay. We found the rooms to be compact, clean and comfortable. Secure parking is available for a daily fee. Half hour free internet is available per day per person. Breakfast is expensive but there a numerous eating establishments at the V&A from which to choose.

Ideal Location and Wonderful Staff
Posted Jan 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
My cousin and I can't say enough about how wonderful the staff was. They helped us at every turn, always with a smile. The room was the perfect size and kept for us and the location was perfect... close to the sightseeing buses [across the street] and within walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see or do.

Fab location, excellent price

Pros: The location, the reception area.
Cons: The door to the shower room did not close and the pathway from the hotel to the road would have benefitted from a light.
The hotel is in an excellent location close to the Waterfront. The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our stay enormously. We felt very safe at the hotel and the area around it. We were in a family room which had two completely separate bedrooms which was really good. Each bedroom had a TV on the wall. I Would recommend this hotel for its location and very reasonable price.

GETTING BETTER EACH YEAR
Posted Jan 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel seems to get better and better. This was our third stay and we've been happy every time. The standard rooms are not large but they are very well appointed with comfortable beds and lovely pillows. The luxury rooms are bigger and some have views over the V&A Waterfront. We find breakfast very expensive and usually use the Hildebrand Restaurant instead. This is on the waterfront, much cheaper and only a 5 minute walk away.

Disappointing experience
Posted Jan 11, 2013
Pros: Proximity to the waterfront. The porter was was professional and helpful. Maid service was excellent.
Cons: Their inability of the hotel management to accept responsibility for their mistakes. Expensive internet. Difficult to adjust water temp in shower.
Location: Convenient to the Waterfront.
My experience with the Protea Breakwater Lodge was mixed. The rooms were clean and the support staff friendly, but one incident in particular cast a pall on my stay. I contacted the hotel reservations staff several days prior to my arrival and told them that I would be arriving after a long 31 hour journey from half way around the world, and would like to reserve the hotel shuttle van for transport from the airport to the hotel. I was told by the hotel staff via email that the reservation was set. After arriving on time and exhausted, I roamed the airport for almost an hour looking for the shuttle before giving up and resorting to another transportation option. After arriving at the hotel, I was told by the staff at reception desk that they would look into the mix-up and that an assistant manager would contact me with an explanation. No one ever did, despite additional queries during my 8-day stay. A SIMPLE APOLOGY WOULD HAVE SUFFICED, but the hotel apparently decided that they didn't owe me an explanation.... very disappointing.
