Comfortable hotel close to the V&A WaterfrontPosted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: Its location, facilities, cleanliness and the friendliness of staff.
Cons: Lighting in our room was very low wattage which made reading in the evenings a little difficult.
Location: The V&A waterfront is the gateway to many tourist activities in Cape Town: Table Mountain cable car, bay cruises, shopping, restaurants, etc.
We stayed for 4 nights in this very clean, comfortable and convenient hotel. A delicious full or continental breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner are available at the onsite Stonebreakers. Hotel staff are extremely helpful with information about Cape Town and for booking tours etc. The hotel which has a history as a gaol and houses the School of Business, is less than 2 minutes walk to the popular V&A waterfront and only 30 mins walk to the centre of Cape Town. The hop-on, hop-off red bus leaves from the waterfront ensuring easy access to most tourist locations.

Great location but noisy roomsPosted Jun 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was excellent, the rooms very comfortable and the location perfect. The only issues are poor WIFI connection strength and noisy top floor rooms in bad weather; the noise is quite amazing when it hails. However, the staff are fantastic.

We were initially placed into "accessible" room (although never requested it). We arrived late at night, and moving was not an option that night. Next day, however, we asked to move, and they did - into a room where thermostat was dead and it was freezing. The fan however worked endlessly, making funny dribbling noise, especially loud at night. They did 4 or 5 services, we lost count.. trying to fix. Finally next day they moved us to a room where the heater/AC were functional and relatively quiet. Note that hotel staff have been always very friendly and accommodating. The room itself has very basic and limited storage space, and the layout of the bed and sofa could have been done better. The small coffee table could have been larger, have drawers.. be more functional. Same is true about the tiny desk with not very good layout, too. The shower and toilet are separated from the room by a semi-transparent glass wall?? the last 2 rooms were in the 2nd floor - very loud rain and birds (crows?). On a positive side, WiFi is free and OK. And hotel staff is great. Daily service was also OK.

Never againPosted Jan 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room were ok and the service ok, but the standard less than average. Most importantly, there is no real common area or facilities. Neither any playground or pool. This isn't good when travelling with kids. The breakfast facilities was somewhere between the old prison standard and a normal hotel, we ate there once and then went out the rest of the days. The so called bar and restaurant facilities is placed in a odd place and you might as well go out or to the neigbor hotel, which is as convenient and more nice.
