Comfortable hotel, one gripe!

Posted Mar 4, 2015
Pros: Friendly service
Cons: Curtains instead of blinds. Gym or sauna facility.
Nice hotel, but the blinds rather than curtains prevent any sort of sleep in with far too much light in the room. Such a shame as it would be the deciding factor in staying again.

Nice hotel in Durbanville area

Posted Nov 30, 2014
Modern, clean, well equipped with spacious rooms. Friendly staff. On the more expensive side though. I chose the hotel because it was closest to a conference venue.

Great value for money

Posted Nov 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
Overall a good experience with friendly staff. Felt safe at all times. Very good value for money. Airconditioners in rooms need to be replaced though as they are still the floormounted dial type and are very noisy. But had a great stay overall! Will definately return.

Dear richdragtaff Thank so much for sharing this stunning review with millions of users and potential GUESTS around the world. We pride ourselves with superb friendly service and most of all the friendliest STAFF around. I believe a first time stay GUEST should be greeted by the General Manager and I always try. Yes it is not always possible, but we sure try. Thank you so much once again and I hope we will be able to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards Mynhardt de Jongh General Manager Protea Hotel Durbanville

Great hotel!

Posted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: see above
Cons: restaurant ran out of orange juice at breakfast for several days
Location: A little out of the way up in the hills of Durbanville, a suburb of Cape Town, but with good views
This is a pleasant, clean, safe, attractive and well-appointed hotel on the outskirts of Cape Town, approximately 25 minutes drive to the centre. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, friendly service by helpful staff, and good food in the restaurant. Breakfasts were impressive - with a choice of crispy bacon in addition to the usual soggy fat-dripping variety. The swimming pool was more of a pond than a pool, but nevertheless clean and refreshing. Good conference facilities as well.

Dear Paul Thank you so much for your kind words. You are so right that we are centrally located: 5 minutes from Durbanville commercial hub, 20 minutes from Cape Town International airport and 30 minutes away from the Waterfront and Stellenbosch Wine lands. It is great to see that you mention our friendly STAFF as BEST GUEST Service is one of our Principals. Our pool is not the largest pool, but it assists in instantly cooling one down in our hot summer’s days and it creates such a calming ambiance whilst sipping away on a cocktail in our pool and lounge bar. We are hoping to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards Mynhardt de Jongh General Manager Protea Hotel Durbanville.

Dear Neville Thank you so much for your awesome feedback. It is great to hear that my STAFF is treating you like a king and that we are EXCEEDING YOUR EXPECTATIONS. Our local suburb city centre is about 3 km away from our hotel and the Cape Town City centre is about 25 minutes away. I trust that you will be returning to our stunning property and we are looking forward to welcome you back. Kind regards Mynhardt de Jongh General Manager Protea Hotel Durbanville

Dear Anoniem Thank you so much for choosing Protea Hotel Durbanville for your accommodation destination and for your extremely important and valued opinion. I apologise profusely for any inconvenience caused for not being able to assist you with a room with a bath. GUEST feedback is extremely important as this has proved to be very valuable and we will be adding the tic boxes for baths and shower preferences on all third party websites. Unfortunately our hotel was designed without lifts which has been challenging as you mentioned. We always try and accommodate all our GUESTS. I hope that you will be able to come and stay at Protea Hotel Durbanville in the near future and that we can provide you with superb service as always. Bra hotel utenfor Cape town sentrum,nærmere Durbanville.Ca 30 minutters kjøretid. Eneste nedtur var att omerådet er så nytt det var ennå ikke på GPSen sitt kart, men bare følg veien til den slutter,så ligger hotellet der.

Dear Jan Hugo Thank you for your kind words Yes we are situated 30 minutes away from Cape Town City centre, but we are so well situated from the airport (30 minutes). We have 15 wine estates within 5kilometres which is stunning to visit. Our hotel is two and a half years old and we are struggling to be on all the maps and the GPRS. Thank you for assisting by explaining to all our potential Norwegian GUEST how to get to our hotel. Kind regards Mynhardt de Jongh General Manager Protea Hotel Durbanville

Nice hotel

Very nice hotel, spacious, comfortable and clean room with new furniture, friendly staff, amazing swimming pool area, good breakfast. The downside is that the hotel is far from the city centre and there are no shops close-by.

Dear Camila Thank you for your kind words. It is a stunning property with beautiful views of the vineyards and the friendliest willing STAFF you will find in Cape Town. I see that you commented about being far from the city centre and also far from shopping centres. It is such a pity as we do offer complimentary shuttle services at set times throughout the day within a 5 kilometre radius. We have a stunning shopping centre within 3 kilometres from our hotel. We will be so glad when we can welcome you back in order for you to visit many interesting sites in the surrounding areas. Kind regard Mynhardt de Jongh General Manager Protea Hotel Durbanville
