Great Stay @ Protea NorTH Wharf Hotel
Posted Jan 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is very clean, super spacious with warm, friendly, and helpful staff. The room is a suite/apartment style with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The couches and chairs in the living room are not the most comfortable but are exceptable for sure. There is a washer and dryer to wash clothes in the room. The kitchen is a full functioning kitchen with a stove, oven, refridgerator, dishwasher, tea kettle, toaster as well as pots, pans, dishes and utensils so you can cook and eat right in your room. Breakfast is included and was very yummy with an assortment of pastries, cheeses, breads, fruits, muffins, meats, coffee, capuchino, tea, juice etc. I really enjoyed he breakfast. The cleaning staff does a great job but they come early so make sure you have your "do not disturb" sign on your door or they will ring your bell very early. The hotel also has free wifi . It's located a hop, skip, and jump away from everything in the City Centre of Cape Town. It's across the bridge from the V & A Waterfront, across the street from the Convention Center and near some business and shops. It' s a safe area with visable public safety post staffed with friendly and helpful officers. I walked from the hotel to the V& A Waterfront every night and felt completely safe. I had a wonderful stay @ The Protea North Wharf Hotel and when I visit Cape Town again I plan to stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay, spacious rooms.

Pros: Spacious rooms
Cons: Messages not relayed, but not problems in the end
Location: Convenient
Wonderful hotel, very close walking distance to the convention centre so very convenient for business travellers. It's also within walking distance to the waterfront, takes about 5-10 mins, but not a safe walk to do at night. The rooms are huge, there is a living area and full kitchen which we didn't need to use, it even has a washing machine. We had a 2 bedroom with 2 bathrooms. The buffet breakfast is great, lots of variety and they even cook your choice of eggs or pancakes for you. They also offer a good range of tours which are worth it. Staff are extremely helpful and even let us use the shower in the gym when we arrived early or had a late flight. Only thing is that sometimes messages don't get through to people, like when I cancelled a tour with the front desk the message was not passed along and they came to pick me up for the tour. However, I would definately recommend this place, and stay there again next time.

Great Location

Nice and big and clean apartment style rooms. Bigger than I needed for one night, but would be great for a prolonged stay. Excellent location near V&A Waterfront. Bar area is little more than a counter in the restaurant, but that is not a reason not to stay at the hotel. Certainly can recommend staying here to anyone

Fantastic Hotel / Apartment
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: The size of the apartment & amenities
Cons: The views were not fantastic
Location: About 25 mins walk or about 5 mins drive to V & A Waterfront. Very close to Cape Town International Confrence Centre
A fantastic hotel. Rooms are actually modern apartments equipped with full kitchen, cutlery for two, dining table, lounge & bedroom have seperate LCD TV's. The breakfast was good. Housekeeping & room service was good, Col Cacchio pizzeria which is accross the road delivers to the room too. It is a 25 min walk or about 5 min drive to the V & A Waterfront. For a home away from home experience with the benefits of a hotel, I have not yet found a better Hotel / Apartment.

Good family hotel in a great location.

Good quality hotel in a great location. Rooms are great and include cooking and washing facilities. We never cooked in our room, but we made use of the fridge and the washing machine. The staff are friendly and helpful. My only negative comment is the poolside area - there is only space for 5 sunbeds, which effectively means it can only be used by one family at a time. Even then, I wouldn't let that put you off, as few guests seem to want to use the pool and we got rthe 4 sunbeds we needed more often than not.
