a very good hotel in a lovely townPosted Jul 6, 2013
We are lucky that when we arrived in Stellenbosch the weather changed from Rainy day into Sunny days. Under the blue sky and white clouds, we moved into the lovely, clean, and carefully operated Protea hotel. It is just three start one, but operated in a very efficient way, clean and lovely and convenient. The food served there is also nice, and the staff is willing to help. It is hard to find any defect with them.

The views are beautiful!Posted Jan 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed in a one-bedroom suite which was very convenient and clean with a little kitchenette. Amazing views of the mountains and surrounding vineyards! Close to shops and stunning wine farms. Good breakfast, I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Very pleasant stayPosted Nov 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
I stayed for four nights recently and found the hotel and staff excellent, while the room was comfortable and the view spectacular. I recommend the Protea Hotel unhesitatingly to anybody looking for a good hotel in Stellenbosch.
Huge rooms, more like an apartmentPosted May 20, 2012 on Hotels.com
I stayed here during a business trip, the staff are very helpful and friendly and rooms are spacious. The only problems were that the WiFi in the rooms were very weak signal so couldn't move around much. Also as the room was so far from the restaurant the food was only warm by the time it got to your room... but you could always go straight to the restaurant to dine.

Not impressedPosted Mar 10, 2010
Room not serviced upon arrival Restaurant not available due to large number of outside group bookings Evening meal arrangements consisted of a menu of Salad, Main Course of Pasta and Bolognaise or Chicken and Rice all with an option of some vegetables. No sweet course was available. Hotel remote and therefore other options not easy

Stellenbosch ProteaPosted Mar 9, 2007
Nice comfortable hotel with friendly staff, the rooms are nicely decorated, food is very good and downstairs at the back of the hotel there is another eating place called the Black Bull who do barbeques and I had the pleasure of cooking my own the day I arrived. If you are a disco dancing person you can dance the night away here to the music.Only draw back I found was that the small swimming pool was a bit out of the way depending what room you had on the complex otherwise no complaints really.

Good Base for Exploring Wine RegionPosted Nov 23, 2006
We stayed at this hotel twice in Nov 06, for 3 nights and then towards the end of our holiday for 3 nights. Rooms allocated on both occasions were suites with a separate lounge (with mini kitchen), bedroom & bathroom. Reception staff very helpful. Good buffet breakfast with eggs cooked to order. In evening choice of main restauarant or bar type food at Black Bull pub. Food always good, but speed of service was variable. Staff always friendly though. One drawback was that hotel is a little isolated so you needed to drive if you wanted to eat elsewhere. Hotel seems to do a lot of conference business, but this did not cause us any problems.
