Prime spot next to the beach and great servicePosted May 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
I stayed here for nearly a month and it was perfect. Pat and family were friendly and helpful, always ensuring that I had a full, giant breakfast and pot of tea. They were always there for my basic needs, like restaurant recommendations and laundry, and even helped with some of my more random requests, like when I needed to order a computer mouse online. The guesthouse is beautiful, my room was very comfortable and clean, and the location can't be beat if you're looking for a relaxing spot next to the beach. Nearby Muizenburg is great for surfing and Kalk Bay is within walking distance and has some great restaurants. Will definitely return someday - many thanks to the family!

Excellent locationPosted May 5, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, facilities
Cons: Being a guest house there is no in-house exercise set up but everyone exercises outside any way
Location: Nest to the St James Beach - cross the road to the sand/sea. Great walking, eating, relaxing around opportunities.
Pleasant guest house within easy walking distance of the Kalk Bay restaurants and social life. Staff were very friendly and helpful and all services were excellent.

Immaculate and convenient!Posted Apr 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Guest House was wonderful the minute we stepped foot on the front porch. The owners and their sons greeted us wonderfully, assisting us with our luggage, and giving us a brief tour of the guest house amenities. The stay was extremely comfortable, homey, and private at the same time. Views to the sea were a delight, breakfast was divine, and the hospitality was wonderful! About a 10 minute walk to all of the great restaurants and shops of Kalk Bay. Would highly recommend this guest house and would certainly stay there again. Great value for your money!

Home from home....just superbPosted Feb 6, 2014
Pros: It was like a lovely home from home
Cons: Not really..small .fridge in the room maybe, but not essential.
Location: St James is lovely and easy access to everywhere. Boulders and the penguins is a must and very close.
Lovely welcome by Pat the loveliest host you could ever meet. Room was lovely. Everything was so clean, perfect and styled. Great honesty bar at great prices (so much better, nicer and cheaper than corporate hotels) Parking was easy and plentiful directly opposite the easy access and safe beach. Beds were lovely. Breakfast was lovely. ALL the staff were genuinely friendly and chatty.

We were extremely pleased with this guest house, located right on False Bay, with restaurants in Kalk Bay within easy walking distance. We were served delicious breakfasts and had a very comfortable room with fabulous view of the bay. Pat and Mike and son Nik were very helpful in every way. Without hesitation we highly recommend Sonnekus Guest House!

Awesome StayPosted May 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Sonnekus Guest House was the first place we stayed in Cape Town, and we would most definitely stay again. The owner, Pat, was more than helpful, and extremely welcoming. She had all the answers for our questions, and had some good suggestions on where to go and what to see. The room was very clean and well kept, with a vintage feel. I don't have enough good things to say about our time there.
