Nearly perfect

Fantastic staff and facities. A few issues in room (faucet knobs falling off, spotty Internet), but top notch still.

One of the Best

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: Everything
I've stayed all over the world and this hotel is second to none. The room was very nice with housekeeping service during the day and turn-down service in the evening. The breakfast buffet was the best offering any and everything possible. The bar next to the lobby was nice with a "cigar shop" next to it for smoking. The concierge were great at booking activities. But most of all, all of the staff were fantastic from the Bellhops, waitresses at the breakfast buffet, front desk, concierge, bar staff... The location was close and easy walking distance to nightlife and a short cab ride to the waterfront.

Friendly, helpful, amazing and very well situated

Pros: Almost everything. Location, staff, food, room and facilities.
Cons: There is no return shuttle from the V&A Waterfront after 8 pm which means that you need to get a local cab back which is a bit of a gamble.
Location: Very centrally located in Cape Town right by Company Garden with complimentary shuttle to the V&A Waterfront and Table Mountain.
We stayed here for a week around the Cape Argus. The hotel is fantastically well situated for the start of the cycle tour and the staff were very helpful in assisting with our bicycle storage. The Concierge staff were fantastic with some excellent recommendations regarding places to eat and arranged transport in comfort back to the airport for our departure (At a cost but they did give us the option of a cheaper taxi rather than the lovely Taj Hotel limousines, but it just seemed the right way to top off our stay!). The breakfast buffet was excellent, the Bombay Brasserie restaurant in the hotel was good and overall the hotel was charming and excellent. The only minor hitch was what I would regard as a rather exorbitant price for checking out a few hours late, but they would not budge on this. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Superb Downtown hotel

Posted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: convenient position, service, food, value for money.
Cons: nothing significant
The Taj is a very comfortable hotel situated in downtown Cape Town close to museums, shops and restaurants. We stayed there for five nights at the end of our trip to the Cape. The service was excellent, lots of attention to detail like the waitress remembering your name each morning as you arrived at the restaurant. Our package included breakfast which was perfect with the possibility to select from the buffet and order specific cooked choices from the à la carte menu. Parking is a bit more tricky since the car park is in a separate building, so a bit of a slog to move your cases around, although in all fairness, the hotel offers a valet parking service so you don't have to do what we did! We picked a room in the Tower with mountain views which gave a spectacular view of Table Mountain. All in all, a very pleasant stay and good value since the Expedia offer gave a 30% discount.

Staff was very accommodating and cordial.

Pros: Scenery and service.
Cons: The IT area. It was too complicated to get material printed.
Location: There was plenty of shoping and the scenery was beautiful and historical site to visit.
We had a very pleasant stay. There was a mix up with the stay at our previous hotel and the staff at the Taj were very helpful the the arangements.
