A comfortable Hotel in Cape Town's Waterfront

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Pros: Location, location and location.
Cons: The Bathtub showers. The glass partition needs to be fixed to avoid the bathroom getting wet and the toilet paper holder needs to be relocated.
Location: Restaurants and shopping and other tourist activities.
My wife and I visited Cape Town for 4 days at the end of our holiday in Zimbabwe, Botswana and and South Africa. The Commodore is a very comfortable hotel to stay in, a short walk to all the restaurants, shopping and activities in the waterfront The staff are pleasant and very helpful. At our request we were given a 4th floor room with a balcony facing the Table Mountain which made our stay all the more memorable. The buffet breakfast with its omelette station which was included in the tariff was more than adequate.

Excellent location

Posted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: We really liked the breakfast.
Cons: air conditioner (super noisy) and bathroom
Location: Location was perfect. Walking distance to the Waterfront shopping, restaurants, cafes, specialty shops, and boat trips.
The location was perfect. Walking distance to the Waterfront shopping, restaurants, cafes, and boat trips. The breakfast was excellent with variety of food and drinks. The room was a bit less spacious than I would expect. I would suggest to the management to check on level of noise coming from air-conditioner. Luckily in May the temperature was not too high and we did not use much the air- conditioner. Otherwise we would have to request to relocate us. The other thing was a bit disappointing that taking shower was related to leaking water on the floor in the bathroom. I have also noticed that the carpet in the room was not vacuumed properly and did not look tidy. The patio was very nice and we had a pleasant time having our breakfast outdoor. We really liked the idea that we could checked out in the morning but kept our luggage till evening. Also before leaving we had a chance to use Change Room and take a shower. Overall it was a very nice hotel, I would definitely come back.

Pros: The staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly
Cons: Furniture and rooms could use some updating but it is still a very comfortable place to stay.
Location: 5 minute walk to V&A waterfront.
If you stay at the Commodore take time to have a drink at the bar and meet Solomon and Elizabeth. They will make your time very enjoyable.

Pros: Breakfast was very rich. Fresh fruits were very delicious. We could also find gluten-free bread and cupcakes in the breakfast.
Location: Hotel is very near to Waterfront shopping and restaurants area (maximum 5 minutes by walking) and also the Aquarium.
Location and breakfast of the hotel were wonderful. Staff was so kind. Rooms and other places in the hotel were very clean. But our room was very small for us (3 people), there was no extra place to put the suitcases even if i had sent an email to hotel before we reached there. Because Hotel is very near to Waterfront shopping and restaurants area (maximum 5 minutes by walking), i advise the hotel to families with children. To find gluten-free bread and cupcakes in breakfast at the hotel and glute-free pizza in Balducci restaurant was very nice surprise for us and also people can find gluten-free packed foods in " Wellness ...." shop in one of the malls in Waterfront area. Generally we are pleased to stay in Commodore Hotel.

Close to the Waterfront but service is pitiful

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: Location was great and the room was nice and large. The hotel pool and gym were nice but the spa was dated and the service was awful.
Cons: Service - all around! The bed was hard and uncomfortable. The cleaning service was very terrible. The mini-bar was not stocked.
Location: Very close to the V&A Waterfront, walking distance.
Upon arrival on Friday at 12:30pm I was told my room would be available no later than 1pm. After I returned back from lunch at 2pm, the room was still not ready and they had to move me to another room that was ready. Upon doing so my internet wi-fi code was incorrect as it still had the first room number as the login. I had to phone reception to get this fixed. When I arrived in the room it was all fine and clean. The mini-bar was not stocked so I requested from reception that it would be stocked. After an hour at the pool I returned to the room to find it still un-stocked so I again called reception and asked for the mini bar to be stocked. When the girl came she was shocked that my mini bar had nothing in it whatsoever. Apparently this is uncommon? I went to make tea and noticed the kettle was corroded on the inside. This is a health risk for sure! Upon trying to shower, I noticed the shower “door” did not have a good seal and the water ran all over the floor to where the entire bathroom floor was flooded after the shower. The water came to the proper temperature before turning on the shower however when the shower was turned on this water temperature went from scolding hot to freezing cold and back and forth. It never once kept the proper temperature for more than 30 seconds while I was here. I mentioned this to the staff as I left and they dismissed it. The worst and most disgusting and discouraging part of my stay was that a face cloth that was clear
