Magical! We didn't want to leave!Posted Apr 8, 2015
This place is truly spectacular. It well and truly exceeded expectations. The scenery is stunning, as is the architecture of the hotel. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Would love to visit again!

Hotel not geared for localsPosted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: The contact with nature on the premises outside the buildings and the breakfast was good
Cons: The household services for certain
Location: The organic market at the Waldorf school on Saturday mornings. We discovered hand made beautifully moulded hand cream in bees wax pouches and bees wax
The Hotels receives busses full of foreign tourists daily. It is obvious that it is the main focus of the hotel to keep these visitors happy. Our room was not serviced before 13h00 - 14h00 every day. So when you arrive back from an outing at 12h30 or later the unmade bed and wet bathroom awaits you!! Supplies e.g. tea bags / sugar/ milk were not filled up every day. We bought our own! On arrival at 8h00 on Thursday night at the main entrance gate we were demanded to go and park on the far side of the hotel with all luggage and all (before even checking in!). Even after several reminders to the gait keeper that we are hotel guests for checking in his attitude and story did not change. We had to phone the reception from our own mobile phones to come to our "rescue".

The hotel was amazing. Our treatments at the spa were fantastic, but the spa itself needs a major makeover. The resort is ideally situated and lovely

Short stay with familyPosted Mar 7, 2015
Location: Gino's, local Italian restaurant which hotel stuff told us. Very nice and cheap.
I visited there with my wife, 2yo daughter, and parents in-law. I was not convinced with the bill on checking-out especially on minibar. When I got there, there was half finished bottole of wine which might be charged for us. But facilities were perfect and breakfast was very nice. Very comfortable and enjoyable stay there. Still recommendable place.

Prima hotel. Fijne gardenroom met uitloop naar zwembad.

Great place for families with toddlersPosted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: The room was very nice and we also especially enjoyed the breakfasts.
We had a fantastic stay at Spier. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests and were very friendly. We had our 20 mth old with us and he loved it as there was so much space to run around and different things to see/places to play.

Beautiful hotel in the winelandsPosted Feb 6, 2015
I surprised my mom with a night at the spier hotel for her birthday. The hotel is beautiful, lovely wine and delicious food. We were disappointed that we did not know about the braai buffet at the hotel, it looked really good. We walked to eight to find out it was a tapas restaurant. The tapas looked really good but it was not what we felt like. We ended up going back to the hotel and ordering off the a la carte menu. I had kudu and it was delicious. The breakfast at the hotel is great with almost everything you could think of. The room at the hotel was lovely. It was not far from the restaurants and the there is transport from one side of the estate to the other. I really enjoyed the birds of prey and lovely to be able to interact with the birds. The porcupine was really friendly too. Overall a lovely stay at Spier. Spier wine estate is also nicely located for access to other wine farms in stellenbosch.

Wine Yard HotelPosted Jan 31, 2015
Pros: Beautiful landscape, lots of space, good food and drinks and perfect ambience for families as well as single travellers.
Location: The hotel is just outside Stellenbosch and there's plenty of things around. Wine farms, excellent restaurants, cape town etc.
We had a wonderful stay at Spier. We travelled with 3 little kids and had a very relaxing and lovely week there. The staff is warmhearted and helpful, the area is very big in beautiful landscape. We had a big terrace room with with a courtyard pool and the kids could move around free and safe. On the area is also a eagle encounter and bird of prey rehabilitation center which is very interesting. The additional "Eight" restaurant serves brilliant regional and organic food and of course, there's always the chance to catch a good glass of wine. All over all a fantastic stay, both for parents and kids.
