SUPERB LOCATION, SERVICE AND COMFORTPosted Mar 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
It has been many years since I last stayed at this hotel and she is showing her age a little, but there is very little to find fault with. The cleanliness and comfort of the suite was perfect, the service in the restaurant and bars was excellent and the breakfast was the best I have seen anywhere in the world. My only criticism is that the restaurant is closed to residents when there is a function on, and this was not expected on our first night. Consequently we had to walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner which was not at all convenient or good, especially when we were very tired from a long flight.

The Best of the Best!Posted Aug 13, 2012
Pros: The excellent staff.
Cons: The elevators were not working properly. Thank God I was only on the fourth floor.
Location: The location was perfect for Cape Town activities..and the view.
Outstanding! ALL of the hotel staff were very helpful and very nice to talk to. There were happy greetings all day long. The view the hotel rooms have of the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Town is breathtaking. I had two rooms in the time I stayed and the balcony was the place to be. The tour desk offered the best tours for everyday of the week. And let me tell you about the hotel shuttle...excellent and extremely accommodating. The three driver I had were great for tips and suggestions for places to go. I have been all around the world and I have to admit, this is the first hotel I have ever written a review for. The best of the best! The Peninsula Hotel is the only hotel I would ever stay at in Cape Town or anywhere else there is a Peninsula Hotel.

Hotel nice, service somewhat lackingPosted Sep 11, 2011
We booked a super luxury 2 bedroom suite, which had a large master bedroom with jacuzzi in the large bathroom, a large living area with full kitchen, 2 balconies overlooking the ocean, and a small second bedroom with its own bath. On booking we were told (both verbally and by email) that the second room had two double beds but this was not true. It was quite small and had two twin beds. Services were not as good as the rooms. The concierges were extremely weak; the best of them was at a mediocre level. I had to tell one that she could get the address I needed if you looked it up on the computer sitting next to her and then help her use google on the computer. The front desk was also very weak. They failed to do a wake-up call one morning and whenever I asked to schedule the shuttle the majority of the front desk personnel told me it was not available. I finally talked to the front desk manager (and thereafter only to him) and he had no problem arranging any shuttle trips needed. Once on the van all the drivers were great and very helpful. The rooms were very clean and some nights (not all) beds were turned down and towels were changed. Finally, I note to you that they have a casual Friday program--be forewarned, some employees look like hoodlums. There are no free internet connections, not even on the public computer in the lobby. You must buy vouchers (again the front desk had problems figuring out how to do this), and they are relatively expensive.

Wonderful StayPosted Nov 3, 2010
Very nice place. People were so friendly and this was not your normal time share experience in which they bother you until you agree to meet with someone. In fact, no one approached us about it at all. The décor was tasteful and views of the ocean fantastic. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Cape Town. Note: this is not in the V&A Waterfront but there is a shuttle that will take you there. I rather liked not being in the touristy area though because the oceanfront views were well worth it. They were also very helpful in getting excursions booked as I had no idea what vendors to use.
