BEST SPOT IN TOWN

Posted Aug 4, 2014
We loved our 3 night stay at Victoria and Alfred Hotel because of its location at the Waterfront. We had a hire car which was parked securely each night in front of the hotel. The area was manned by hotel staff. Our room was on the Piazza side of the hotel, which being winter posed no late night noise problems. Our superior loft room looked out onto the Ferris Wheel and across to the restaurants, which made us feel part of the scene. The music could be heard from our room, but finished early enough not to disturb. It was very easy to walk safely to all the waterfront sights and the Red Hop on Hop off bus terminal was nearby. Table Mountain was visible from the breakfast room, so we didn't feel that we needed to pay for a room facing the mountain. The beds were comfortable and the breakfasts superb. We would definitely stay at this hotel if we returned to Cape Town.

Cool hotel

Pros: Closeness to the V &A mall,nd the waterfront
Cons: Amenities in the rooms and bathrooms
Location: Location is lovely and it's closeness to the waterfront and the V & A mall Is wonderful
The hotel is nice though not a five star hotel, but I think it's a good value for money. Just that the hotel needs improvement, facilities in the rooms are quite old.

Shame we didn't know about all the building work!

Pros: Excellent location and the facilities are good.
Cons: One bugbear was the maids start knocking on the doors from very early, despite the "Do Not Disturb" sign.
Location: Well located on the V&A waterfront. Perfect for the bars and restaurants. Also some nice shops and market stalls close by.
Having stayed here before, I booked a couple of loft rooms for my colleague and myself. Check-in was smooth and I was shown to my room. At first glance, everything "looked" ok. However, upon using the bathroom, I discovered the door handle came off whilst i was in the toilet. No phone and no way of communicating to anyone, I eventually managed to get the door open. I then noticed that various fittings in the bathroom were coming loose from the wall, not a major issue, but hardly what you expect from a hotel of this level and price. Then the big surprise was the horrendous noise that woke me up early the next morning. The builders were in and hard at it! No opportunity to lie in, so got up and went out early. Shame, as I had really wanted some rest after a long business trip. The hotel had sent me an email the day before I arrived that informed me they would be upgrading bathrooms. However there was no mention of the noise, nor any notice that I would be given a room with bathroom issues (my colleagues room was similar). The staff just comment that the hotel is being refurbished, but there was no gesture towards inconvenience.

We were robed of our money by a member of staff

Posted May 25, 2014
Cons: The security system
Location: Very central to everthing
We left are room one nite at9.15pm and a member of staff entered are room at 10.30pm and took 1500 euros from are safe the member of staff had no reason to be in are room .the hotel would not give us back are money or any compensation ...just a ride in they merc to canal walk ,,,,how good of them.people should be also no that there are no cameras in the corridors entering the bedrooms so if anything happened to you in you're room they can not show who entered ...not good in this day and age.they only have cameras as you come out of the lifts

Comfortable, modern hotel on Cape Town Waterfront

The location was perfect and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The modern room was nicely appointed and very comfortable. I'd gladly stay here again.
