Fantastic Staff in a Great LocationPosted Jan 16, 2014
Pros: location, quality of the staff, design, breakfast
Cons: really nothing
Location: Both the city center and the waterfront are a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. There are several dozen restaurants of all types nearby, too.
Staying at Villa Zest was one of the best hotel experiences I've had in my life. The location is great, within a moderate walk to both the city center and the waterfront. The hotel itself has an interesting look, with great attention to detail. Despite the small size, they still have a pool and a really cool outdoor area in the back, with lots of chairs, a fireplace, etc. The breakfast was fantastic every morning. But, by far the best thing about the hotel was the staff! There aren't very many of them, so you see the same staff on a regular basis during your stay. They did a really excellent job at making me feel welcome to the hotel and Cape Town and arranging anything I wanted to do. All of them are extremely personable and great to talk to about anything South Africa or Cape Town, as well as just really nice people you will want to get to know. I can't recommend this hotel or its staff enough!

Room = TINY modern boxPosted Nov 6, 2013
Pros: comfortable bed, clean, helpful staff, modern art
Cons: Could offer hair conditioner and a door separating bathroom from bedroom
Location: Waterfront about a 10 minute walk.
The staff was very helpful, but there is no way I can give a hotel room that is very small and that has no door separating the bathroom a 5 star review. It is not very romantic hearing your significant other taking care of business! Plus, I was surprised there was not any hair conditioner. That being said, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were friendly.

Great hotel, but some rooms with funny layoutPosted Oct 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
Overall, Villa Zest is a very good hotel. Nice modern decor, very clean, very friendly staff and great breakfast. My only gripe is the layout of some of the rooms. If you happen to have the bigger and more expensive rooms, then you'll be fine. We stayed there twice during our trip. First in the smallest one of the seven, which was very small, and the bathroom door is not a solid door, so it doesn't provide complete privacy. Next, we stayed in a room that's one category higher. This one had a very open layout, providing even less privacy. The sink and bath/shower are right next to the bed, with no door! After our complaint, we got moved to another room. This was very nice - more space, and there was a curtain separating the sleeping area from the bathroom. Since then, the stay has been great. Thanks Villa Zest!

one of the Best boutique hotels I have stayed in!Posted Oct 7, 2013
What a fantastic place! I was completely blown away with Villa Zest. I work in hotel marketing so I have an eagle eye with the smallest of details. The staff, the room, the energy of the place, all work so well together. What I particularly loved was that everything I looked for in my room when I needed was right at my fingertips.. the tissues, the luggage rack, the switch for the lights, ample options of plug adaptor's, etc. The breakfast was just delightful, ample fresh and high quality fruits and fancies. The one morning I ordered from the hot menu options, the berry and chocolate crumpets, oh my goodness, it definitely put a smile on my face for the rest of my busy work day. Overall a great property that offers homeliness whilst still utterly professional, and decent, reliable 24hour service, and in a central location. I will be back!

Fantastic unique and beautifully presentedPosted Apr 15, 2013
Pros: It's decor and individual character
Location: Just a short distance from the V&A waterfront (although not dead on it)
I was travelling with work and had a free weekend in Cape Town and wanted to stay somewhere that didn't remind me of a soulless chain hotel. This hotel was perfect, beautifully decorated and unique. An amazing outside area with fire pit and pool and rooms with lovely touches such as ipod docking stations. Can't recommend enough

Superb!!Posted Jan 22, 2013
I have never, ever written a review of a hotel before (good or bad), but this place was simply superb and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Staff were so friendly and welcoming and the place was a fantastic break from the traditional hotel. Outstanding!

Outstanding service and personal attentionPosted Sep 19, 2012
Pros: The personal attention and service from the staff.
Cons: Studio style rooms which meant there was no door to the bathroom
Location: Ideally located within walking distance from the V&A waterfront
Very personalised service and attention from friendly, caring staff. Given the hotel is boutique with only a small number of rooms it allows you to feel very special and well looked after. The location is also ideal as it is walking distance to the V&A waterfront. I especially appreciated the recommendations and assistance the staff offered to us to help us plan our days and activities. Amazing breakfast!!
A real surprise.Posted May 6, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but is actually a really charming and hip boutique hotel. The service was young, friendly, and super helpful. The location was close to the water front, although there is NOTHING cool about the waterfront. It's a mall.
