Mince hotel but needs updating

Posted Apr 6, 2014
Nothing really wrong but the decor, so dated without being timeless classic design. Eg. The walls and hallways on 3rd floor two decades out of date. Rooms ok but bathrooms dated, no hair dryers, TV reception poor and aircon was a disaster. Needs to be updated.

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. Arriving with an extended family of nine, we were greeted fantastically, and apart from a slight glitch on our dinner reservation, which was dealt with quickly and professionally, our stay was near perfect. Very attentive staff, stunning surroundings, beautiful weather all combined to make our stay excellent.

Well appointed and set in beautiful grounds.

Pros: See above
Cons: All really good.
Location: Close to the Kirstenbosch Gardens, some excellent restaurants and shops nearby. Easy to get access into and around Cape Town either by car or taxi.
Extremely helpful and friendly staff, excellent food with a wide choice - the breakfasts in particular were first class. Good pool area and gym facilities. A lovely friendly atmosphere in the hotel and we just had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Vineyard Hotel & Spa in Cape Town

Posted Dec 29, 2013
Pros: Location, service, nearby amenities, hotel landscaping
Cons: Quality of restaurant service was inconsistent, perhaps because we were there over Xmas.
Location: Cavendish Square Mall, some nice restaurants, an excellent coffee shop- all within easy walking distance.
We stayed at the Vineyard Hotel and Spa in Cape Town over Christmas week of 2013. The hotel is located in a beautiful neighbourhood which is not too far from downtown and also is only about 20 minutes from the airport. Lots of upscale shopping and restaurants are within walking distance. Service was a little inconsistent, but overall very good. My wife and daughter enjoyed the service in the spa. The restaurant offerings and wine list were enjoyable. The pool area was large and well kept. One of the best features is the expansive garden area in the rear of the hotel.

Ideal mix of attributes

Whilst the Hotel is in itself a fine Holiday Venue it is also well situated to enjoy the other Cape Town attractions. It is no more than 15 mins by car to many. The ambiance, food and wine, and efficient 'friendly staff ensure a memorable escape!

This is an oasis in the heart of the Newlands. The atmosphere is classic, 19th century type luxury, and the grounds are beautiful and extensive.
