Terrific stayPosted Sep 5, 2013
Pros: It's look, the front desk staff, the bar/restaurant, the location
Cons: The room decor, but that's being fussy. The en suite was contemporary but could have done with a better door!
Location: V&A has lots of good places to eat and a load of shops, Camps Bay is just down the coast too for a few drinks and a beach for everyone!
We stayed at Winchester Mansions for our week long stay in Cape Town and thoroughly enjoyed it. We didn't get a sea view but considering the noise of crashing waves from the hotel's front I wouldn't say that was necessarily a bad thing! We had a 'mountain view' instead, still a very good room. The front desk staff were great and always keen to help or advise (the free shuttle to the V&A Waterfront was really useful), the restaurant is of high standard and the hotel bar is a popular haunt for locals looking for a few drinks after work. The room decor could perhaps do with a little updating but was still good and, if anything we felt we were being 'over-serviced' ... a lot of staff tasked with cleaning rooms and serving in the restaraunt! The best thing about the hotel is it's look and feel, by far the prettiest in Sea Point. The open courtyard and external corridors give it a really clasy feel inside as does the view when looking back towards it from the sea front. The location is pretty good, taxis into the centre of town or down to Camps Bay are relatively cheap and, if need be, the front desk will arrange for the driver to take you if he's available (similar price). The free shuttle to the V&A Waterfront is great though, came in very useful. All in all, a very pleasant place to stay ... but what is the golf putting equipment in the corridors about, really?

Location: Great location in a real Capetonian neighborhood. Not resorty or touristy at all but reall great location to really experience the Cape.
Hotel staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us happy. I have never had such service and I've stayed at many top quality hotels. Breakfast was delicious and can't believe it was free. Please tip a lot because the waitstaff is extremely friendly as well. Thanks for a great stay and a great honeymoon because of Wincester Mansions.

An outstanding hotelPosted Mar 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
Winchester mansions is an exceptional hotel. It has a very personal feel, lovely, professional staff, a secluded interior courtyard restaurant, great food, the bar along the front of the hotel is THE place to be for the spectacular sunsets. It is a buzzy, sociable, professional hotel that knows how to make a stay here very enjoyable. My modern classic bedroom was of a very high standard with a spacious modern bathroom, the communal areas and pool are lovely. The hotel is not on the Waterfront or Camps bay,but it offers, on demand, a free luxury ride into the Waterfront. I wouldn't stay anywhere else

Good location, nice hotel. Hop on/hop off bus stops right across the street (which is a good way to see Capetown). Within walking distance of V&A Wharf (a bit of a walk but definitely do-able). Nice courtyard dining for breakfast.

AWESOMEPosted Nov 2, 2012 on Hotels.com
I just spent 7 days at this wonderful hotel with my elderly parents. I could easily single out individual staff members who went beyond the norm to make our stay most enjoyable, but with the high level of service, this would be unfair.I would highly recomend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Cape Town.I would happily stay here again on future trips to Cape Town and the convenience of the hotels location and the beach front and sunsets were incredible! My only suggestion would be to have a hair comb included with the complimentary bathroom items as combing my hair with a fork was a bit of a nonsence!
