“ALady regaining her former glory”
A Hotel that has realised that things have slipped from it's former glory and is fast putting things back to Rights.Their breakfast selection is second to none, magnificent. The pool area well serviced. The staff very eager to please(and succeeding). All that's needed now is a bit of a 'lighter colour' paint job inside to brighten up things, and maybe some new carpeting.?.Mention must also be made of a very efficient lift system.
“Outstanding bargin”
For the price, this hotel is a bargain. It is centrally located and the staff is very helpful.
“3 star but 4 star experience”
Yes its a bit dated and needs to be upgraded but for the money its very good value. Excellent breakfast, nice pool area, parking, top floor bar and restaurant and the staff are all very friendly. does a lot of local conference trade so you do mix with the locals. If thats a problem you may not like it. I would definately go back. Also close to Waterkant 'Village'.
“Geat value”
Good standard for the price, great staff. Try the Panorama bar and the revolving resturant. Close to shops and resturants. Cape Town is excellent value for money.
“Fabulous position, excellent value for money !”
the ritz is in a wonderful position in seapoint, ideally positioned for the beatifull seafront also for exploring both the fabulous beaches of camps bay, llandudno and houts bay to the left, greenpoint and onward to v&a waterfront to the left.if england were fortunate enough to reach the world cup semi-final next year the stadium hosting one of the games is to be held 5mins from your hotel room !!!,whilst "the ritz" does show its age and is a little worn round the edges i would much rather concentrate on the positives as they very much outweigh a few negatives, the price was super, the view from the rooms is fantastic across the bay,the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was buffet style and very satisfying, and finally but very important the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to help and resolve any enquiries and make feel very welcome.overall the ritz and its fabulous staff are a "winner" !!!,defenitely will stay again.
“Best View in Cape Town”
Our room was on 8th floor and we were delighted with the sea and harbour views. Our room was comfortable but ready for updating and the bathroom needed a complete refit. There were no towels in the room when we arrived but some were quickly sent up. Staff were excellent in all departments. The revolving restaurant is a must at least once per stay. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant on the first floor were buffet style and choice was not as great as we would have expected but adequate overall. Pool and terrace closedmfor renovation due for completion end of 2008. We would definitely stay at the Ritz again if offered a similar good tariff.
“Good cheap base.”
Ritz is very old and some what tired looking, however it is extremely clean and quite comfortable. Fresh towels everyday and bed linen evry other day. beakfast very good, buffet style with ahuge selection. evening meals were also buffet style but were repeditive, poor quality, and boring. plenty of good restuarants in the area though.Dining room staff were unattentive.A good cheap place for a base from which one can explore cape Town and surrounding area.
“Stayed at Ritz in February 2009”
My wife and I stayed at Ritz for 2 weeks in Feb 2009 and were overall satisfied with our stay. Front desk personnel was quite friendly and ready to help at any time, team at the pool paid attention to all needs and we strongly recommend this hotel. It is a little bit old (probably 30+ years old) and you can see it everywhere but staff is trying hard to make your stay pleasant.
“a little weathered”
staff very helpful, revolving restaurant a must do, rooms clean and tidy, location excellent, far better than in the centre. close enough to walk one way to the V & A waterfront, take the bus back less than a rand for 2 people ,an experience in itself.
“Great service in a mature hotel”
We arrived in early April for 2 weeks my wife, 12 year old son and myself. From our arrival all of the staff were attentive, helpful and seemed to take a genuine interest in how they could help. Good breakfast buffet and excellent top floor restaurant serving good food. V&A was a 30 minute walk although the mini bus / taxi service was frequent, cheap but often very crowded with locals going to and from the centre. You really need a car and we hired after a few days and that helped a lotThe Ritz is in Sea Point a southern suburb of Cape Town not the centre.
