“An very good hotel in an excellent location”

Really enjoyed our stay here. An excellent location just by the Waterfront. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. If you eat in the restaurant and have the Cape Malay Feast, make sure you don't eat all day leading up to it as the portions are huge, but delicious. Would defintely go back to this hotel if we went back to Cape Town.

“Well located, good service and reasonably priced”

This is an incredibly well located hotel near the water front. It doesn't cost the earth and benefits from access to facilities at the more expensive sister hotel, The Commodore, which is part of the same complex. Excellent, friendly staff. The breakfasts are extremely good and included in the price. We arrived early after an overnight flight from London and the staff were extremely accommodating, allowing us to check in early. Would definitely go back.

“Very personalised service”

From the moment I arrived in the hotel until i left the staff really did everything they could to make my trip as nice as possible. Everything is, or can be arranged to full detail. Their travel desk is excellent - they offer personalised trips with the hotel drivers to enable you to do exactly what you want - in a safe way. My shark dive I arranged from home fell through last-minute, and the travel desk arranged for me a full new trip, taylor made to my travel schedule. Really, all staff will go out of their ways to make your stay as nice as possible!

“Excellent disabled room, very friendly staff”

We stayed in the disabled room which was smaller than some other hotels we have used but was ideally equipped with facilities properly thought out for the needs of the disabled. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and provided an easy to use valet car parking service in the next door multi-storey car park as the hotel does not have it's own parking facility, total extra cost payable locally Rand 80 per day. Ideal location to access the nearby V&A Waterfront shops/restaurants. Free use of PCs/internet for up to 2 hours per day was much appreciated. Good food in the restaurant at reasonable prices. We would happily stay there again.

“Great choice in Cape Town”

The Portswood is a modest and extremely well-located hotel on the Victoria and Alfred waterfront in Cape Town. The Staff is extremely helpful in all respects and will make your visit to the city a great experience.

“Great place to stay”

We stayed here for 10 days whilst in Cape Town. We chose it for its closeness to the V&A Waterfront and were thrilled with the easy access to this great shopping/eating spot. The staff - from the doorman to the management - were very very friendly and helpful. The breakfast selection is superb. Didn't eat in the restaurant for other meals so can't comment. Highly recommended!

“You will not be dissappointed”

My wife and I stayed here during a quick 3 day trip to Cape Town. The Portswood V&A exceeded our expectations in every way. With only a 3 minute walk to the waterfront, the location could not have been better. I can't imagine a better place to stay while in Cape Town.

“excellent ambiance and service!”

We WILL definately stay at the Portswood next time we visit Cape Town. The staff at the Portswood without exception are fantastic, we especially loved Brian the 'awesome' doorman and Michelle one of the reception managers. Together they make you feel like long lost friends. Its a brilliant way to start the day by asking Brian how he is today and getting the reply 'awesome' along with big cheesy grin. Somehow he makes you feel awesome too! When we left - albiet with a tear in our eye, they came and out and waved as we drove away! The service this hotel provides is far and beyond the norm, beleive me I stay in hotels for business almost 100 nights per year! So if you want a perfectly situated hotel that doesn't break the bank with fantastic service and staff - stay here or at its sister hotel next door the Commodore.

“Great Location; Fantastic service”

Staying at Portswood V&A was a wonderful experience; the location is fantastic, close to the waterfront and very near to the craft market - perfect after shopping! All the staff at Portswood are very courteous; they changed our room when we requested for a different view. Room and toilet are spacious enough for 2 and they offer turn down service as well. The breakfast service is very good; lots of fresh fruits and honeycomb and you can order your hot breakfast a la carte as part of the breakfast service without paying extra. When we needed our rental car, the concierge ensures that our car is ready for us at the front of the hotel. It has been a pleasure to stay at Portswood; definitely highly recommended!
