“Excellence in the countryside outside Cape Town”

I stay in a lot of places so when I say that The Village at Spier is excellent, I mean it. The service was faultless and every aspect of my stay was well taken care of. I unfortunately didn't eat many times in the hotel but when I did, even the simplest food was beautifully presented. Of course, being on a wine estate, even the house wine is excellent too! OK, its not in the bustle of the city but I liked that and would definitely choose it again

“A fantastic place to relax, a great base to explor from”

I booked this hotel for 2 nights for my partner and I. I work in the UK while he works in South Africa and so I wanted a hotel where we could relax and enjoy our time together. Spier was perfect. The pool, which was shared between 10-15 rooms was very quiet and we stayed in Jan! Moyo is amazing, the service is excellent and the room service prices very reasonable. The detail in the design of the rooms is lovely, the candles, the bedding... and the bath salts smell devine. The location is great for exploring the wine region without being in the buzzing centre of Stellenbosch...overall a great place to spend time with someone that you love!

“good place to stay in a splendid setting”

This is a lovely place to stay in a great setting with lots to do, i.e. the cheeter reserve bird sanctuary and african Mayo evening. the staff were very friendly and accommodation was very clean and comfortable. would definitely go back.

“Fantastic Hotel”

The Spier estate is beautiful and prestine and the hotel is tucked away from the more touristy areas. The rooms were gigantic - like apartments and very comfortable. The wine is great, the food is fab - Moyo is great fun but the hotel food itself is awesome. A good breakfast and fantastic service throughout. The grounds and lovely and poolside is v comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

“Would go back to this hotel”

We spent three nights at this hotel. It was very comfortable, clean throughout. We were there in mid January supposedly high season for this part of the world, and for some peculiar reason had painters in work at several places. There are three restaurants. The food was reasonable, not expensive, at all three. They have a Mojo African-theme restaurant with buffet-style eating of every kind. The "exclusive" Jonkerhuis restaurant did excellent simple food and very reasonable. Stellenbosch is 9 km away and you definitely need a car to get there and back, though the hotel will get you a taxi. There are occasional bus tours passing through, staying the night. The public side of the Spiers complex is at the opposite side of the site. Wine tasting of Spier estate wines is available. Would we go back? Yes I think we would.

One of, if not the nicest hotel we stayed at in South Africa. best bang for the buck and a real wine enthusiasts place to be.

Spier is a fantastic location with superb facilities and great restaurants. The service was so efficient and friendly and I would recommend it without hesitation.

“Comfortable accomodation”

Enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel and was impressed with the service from all members of staff and quality of room. Restaurant superb and as with the rest of South Africa, prices very reasonable!! Only a 5 minute drive into Stellenbosch. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone.

“We should have stayed an extra day!”

We chose the hotel because it was convenient to CPT airport, but there is lots to do in the area, especially wineland tours. My wife wanted to stay an extra day, but our air reservations were fixed.

“Spier - almost perfect but they need to understand 5* service”

OK, an amazing place, wondering settings (if a little commercial), high quality accomodation but they forgot our booking at Moyo (a must) and they tried to cut the grass as we were sunbathing, but they are minor points.
