A lovely hotel perfect for the city centre and Christmas markets, really clean and comfortable. Great 'rainfall' Grohe shower. Only downfall is noise from main street outside, try and get a room at the back if possible. Also as with all hotels they seem to feel a need to whack the heating on all night but once we worked out how to switch it off it was much better. Overall though a very pleasant surprise, would definitely say better than 3 stars.

I would love to rate this hotel and recommend based on our experience...however, upon check-in we were told a movie would be shooting during our week stay and they have moved us to another hotel across the street. Hotel Garonne was very accommodating, very pleasant staff and gave us a parking pass for the Esquirol garage. The neighborhood is a happening place, beautiful bridge views and a close walk to great restaurants/shopping (& the Capitole).

The location is perfect, a few seconds from the main square. Cleanliness is perfect. most staff are friendly (but don't mess with the room key system). It's good value for money.
BUT, the bathroom was ridiculously tiny: there really wasn't room to sit on the toilet! Not was there room to dry oneself after a shower (the shower itself was tiny, though the water flow was fine), only 2hotels were provided. There is no aircon, so it can be warm in summer.
We would stay here again, but only for a couple of nights at the most.

I used this hotel after moving out of my apartment because it was cheap and very close to where I lived. The hotel lobby is nice but that seems to be where the hotel remodel finished. We stayed in what I thought was a not the base level room. It would have been ok for a single but not a couple. There was door on the bathroom and the bed was the type that was butted/built against the wall. The mattress for the best quality and you could feel some of the springs with linen from the 70s. The reason for anyone to stay at this hotel is it is cheap and close to Capitole.

We stayed at the Hotel Albert 1er before and after our walking tour of the Dordogne river valley. It was the perfect hotel for us! The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful polyglots, our rooms were clean as a whistle, and the classic decor is tasteful and comfortable. On top of that, the location can't be beat: the hotel is just 2 blocks or so from the centrally-located Capitole as well as from the airport shuttle ("navette") stop, and there are even signs at the nearby intersections pointing you toward the hotel, making it easy to find. Overall, a terrific, reasonably-priced place to stay.
