The Original always a great choicePosted May 30, 2013
The Staff have been at their jobs here for a very long time, over five years each, and they know their stuff. You can leave it to them to help arrange tours and balloon rides - highly recommended. Oktay and Suleiman have excellent command of English and are very courteous and caring. I stayed in the new Penthouse room, no 401. Some hooks and a toilet paper holder still need to be installed, but It has a view to swoon over off your private balcony. Don't fret if its not available, choose 301 just below, only difference you must open your door to see the view. Caution! both rooms require endurance as 301 has over fifty steps and 401 has sixtysix steps one way to reach the rooms. I enjoy this sort of forced exercise! The pool in May is still unheated and recliners are not put up until June, but we found the water refreshing. There are plenty of tables to enjoy food and drinks and the View Again The View! The Shoestring Staff will NOT tie you up in Knots. The sweet woman who runs the cantina will cater to you in her natural mothering way. There is a Hotel Pet, Princess the Dog. The Dorm Rooms below offer a fun chance to meet our wonderful younger generation and they will help you with any computer issues! The WiFi works great.

Awesome terrace for sunrisePosted May 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed in a private room which was a cave room, clean and comfortable. Hotel even provided slippers and toiletries. The private bathroom is a massive upgrade from the dorm bathrooms which really need some work! Great buffet breakfasts which you can eat out on the terrace by the pool. The terrace was a great place for watching the balloons at sunrise. Wifi doesn't work very well in the cave rooms. Hotel is an easy walk to town centre and bus station and people of Cappadocia are very friendly. Do the Ihlara Valley tour!

Fantastic food!Posted Aug 6, 2012
Cute hotel and the pool is a fantastic way to cool off after a hot day! Some small stones can sometimes fall from the roof but that's to be expected from staying in a cave. Would highly recommend te set menu for dinner! Only 15 lira for some of the best food we ate in our whole in turkey! And lots of it too! Would definitely recommend.

Lovely!Posted Oct 23, 2011 on Hotels.com
I absolutely love this place, great location, I walked to both Love Valley and the Rose Valley within 15 minutes. The breakfast is good, wonderful to be able to have a coffee on the rooftop by the pool. The manager is very kind and friendly. Room is clean and cozy, very fun of course to live in the cave. I would highly recommend to others.

Shoestring Cave - SuperbPosted Sep 26, 2011 on Hotels.com
Fantastic place to stay. Close to all the sights but the highlight is the hotel itself. The place, like Goreme itself is surreal. The cave rooms are superb. Food is excellent and great value and the staff couldn't be more helpful, arranging trips, transfers etc. Great communal areas where you can meet your fellow travellers. If you're looking for the Holiday Inn avoid this like the plague but if you want a truly unique experience, book now! Highly recommended.

Shoestring cave house - consigliabilePosted Sep 19, 2011
