Another visit to SIU.

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Quiet. Air conditioning was available at 70 degrees.
Cons: When I stay for two nights, our "keys" always have to be reset to use night #2, even though we book them together and pay for them ahead of time.
Location: Location is good. Frontage street to 13 is awful. Could use a 4 way stop there. Lots of shopping available.
We have been to SIU three times to date for my Daughter who will be a freshman this Fall. We've stayed at the Saluki Inn twice and the Holiday Inn once. Both times at Best Western, we had a comfortable room, helpful staff and no problems.

Clean and affordable

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Cons: Only thing in need of improvement was the breakfast buffet was a bit to be desired but appreciate that there was one available. Maybe offer fruit.
Clean and affordable place to stay in Carbondale! I look for good place to stay based on location, cleanliness and comfort. Best Western Saluki fit the bill on all counts. Thank you.

Enjoyed our stay

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Clean, newer, included breakfast and internet.
Cons: Pillows and bed were just average and not very comfortable.
Location: Shopping mall, Shawnee forest, SIU Carbondale.
This is a newer and very neat and clean hotel. Nice amenities with a pool and they include a decent breakfast. I would stay here again. The beds and pillows are just average.

Extremely friendly and accommodating staff

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Clean comfortable rooms, very friendly staff, and an excellent breakfast in the morning.
Cons: Some of the guests across the hall were noisy outside in the hall in the middle of the night. It wasn't the fault of the hotel, just annoying.
Location: SIU-C campus, Giant City park, University Mall across the street
We drove in from Miami, and after a 17 hour drive, we got to the hotel a little early for check-in. The staff was very sympathetic to our situation and made every effort to get us into our room. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable, and the bathroom updated and clean. The free breakfast the next morning was very nice and went beyond what I expect as the usual freebie. The fare included everything from hot foods to cereals - something for everyone in our group. I would definitely stay at this hotel during my next stay in Carbondale.

Nice hotel close to school

Posted Mar 17, 2014
We were going to a concert at SLU arena. It only took us about 10 minutes to get there and get parked. Only downside was that we had requested a king bed through expedia and ended up with two full beds so sleeping was a little tight.

There was hair in the sink and bath tub.

Overall stay was ok. Pool was a little small. The hall smelt like cigarette smoke.

Solid hotel close to campus

The hotel is fine; clean, comfortable, and quiet. It's a Best Western, not the Ritz. However, their parking lot plowing needs help. The parking lot was treacherous and icy. Large parts looked like it had not been plowed or treated after the recent snow and ice. Getting back and forth to the car was an adventure.

We will stay there again when we visit SIU.

Posted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed.
Cons: The breakfast area was very crowded. It seemed like everyone came down to eat all at once.
Location: The location was good, and there was plenty to do nearby.
We were not in the hotel too long but our short stay was just fine.
