“May go back good for cost.”

The motel was good quality for the cost. The breakfast could have been better without much additional cost. Ex. Decafe. coffee could have been offered. People were friendly, and service was good. We were concerned about security at doors other than front - no locks on outside doors ex. in back of motel.

Area recommendations

Mall for shopping close by. Many eating choices close by. Recreational areas close by.

Shopping

A shopping mall is a short distance from the motel. McKenny's western Store is just a few blocks away - outstanding if into horses. Also, Wal-Mart and Sam's Club a short distance away.

Dining

Can't remember the name but a great pizza place just across from the Drury Inn - about 4 blocks from our motel. by mall O'Charle's, Hideout Steak House, 17th Street Grill - very good ribs. Steak & Shake close by.

Outdoors or beach

Movie theater by the mall. Crab Orchard Lake about 20 miles West on Rt. 13 toward Carbondale where Southern Illinois University is located. Golf course near by.

“Nice hotel for the price.”

For the price it was a nice hotel, lots of stores and restraunts around. Only complaint was the shower was not clean.

“Even though we did not use the pool when our grandaughter visited one day and we had to pay extra fo”

They didn't offer to clean our room we stayed 2 nights we had to ask for new towels. The doors to the outside did not lock anyone could enter the hotel at anytime. Did not feel safe.

“Not up to standards at all!”

The entire motel reaked of cigarette smoke. The lack of vacuuming around furniture and in corners was very evident. Hallways were very cold. Bathroom fan was not functional. Bathtub stopper was not functional. Front desk area was very unkept. This is a place to avoid.

“Marion Econo Lodge”

Was surprised by the reviews, though this is not a 1 it certainly is not even a 3, to even out the reviews I am giving it a one. Moldy bathroom, carpet only vacuumed in areas you can easily get at, broken sauna that appeared not to have been used for some time. I asked for an upper floor and was given a 1st floor with only a few cars in lot. When I looked up it appeared to me that the 3rd floor was turned into some type of apartments, with plants and things in windows. Shady hotel, would certainly not stay here again nor recommend...

“Affordable Quality”

This is my second stay at econo lodge and I was just as satified as i was during my first visit. Indoor swimming, hot tub and fitness room were a number of activities I enjoyed during my stay. The hotel also has a wonderful continental breakfast. My room was clean and spacious for my comfort. With affordable rates and good quality services, the econo lodge is my top choice when visiting Marion, IL. I plan to return very soon!

Traveler's tip

There are plenty of restaurants and stores within minutes of this hotel so you don't have to venture too far away. The hotel is also about 15 minutes from SIU. Some advice to those over the age of 21: If you plan to purchase alcohol while in marion, you may need to plan early or bring something with you. Marion, IL. has a law where the sale of alcohol is limited to a certain time of day and even limited to certain days.
