Great for what we needed

Posted Apr 23, 2014
Pros: The location was good, the staff were friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable. Also 5 minutes from the train station for the airport shuttle.
Cons: I would have liked the shower to have been attached to the wall and a kettle in the bedroom would have been an advantage..
Location: Check out the market(Saturday) on Place Carnot (5 mins walk) is worth a visit as are the Cafe's there.Don't miss L Ostal des Troubadours (Old Town)
We looked around Carcassonne for various hotels and dithered about getting a hotel in the new or old town but could not justify the price difference of staying in or nearer the old town. On arrival to the hotel (took a taxi from the airport which was about 12 euros as we missed the shuttle) it seemed nice, the hotelier was friendly and welcoming and offered us advice of where we could go in the new town including advising us to go to the Market on the Saturday (an experience I would recommend to all food lovers!). The room was basic but comfortable, you can't expect much from a 2 Star hotel but it was very clean (cleaned every day) and the bed was comfortable (I would have appreciated a second pillow - but I'm sure if I had actively searched for one I could have got another). The bathroom was basic but adequate, the shower is one of the those that run off the tap and unfortunately did not have an attachment on the wall so you have to hold it over your own head, but only a minor irritation and having said that the pressure was good. The bath however was tiny! When having a soak (walking up to and around the medieval town will lead to you needing one) I was very cramped. As for the location we were happy we chose this hotel, the experience of walking back from the old town over the Aude river bridge looking back at the town illuminated at night was one of my highlights of the weekend and I loved doing this every night.

Very comfortable and friendly, good breakfast

Pros: Nice traditional French provincial town atmosphere, very relaxed
Cons: Bigger shower tray, wc closer to wash basin
Location: Very central, can walk to anywhere in old city in 10-15 mins, 20 to the Cité. Good restaurants close by.
Very comfortable and friendly hotel, 5 mins walk from railway station. Good breakfast with proper espresso coffee. Large room with quiet outlook to south over roofs and the ancient church, but not overlooked. Good size bathroom but shower tray a bit small, so water overflowed onto floor. Separate wc off bedroom but a long walk to wash hands. Hotelier and staff could not have been more helpful. Street parking plentiful this time of year (mid- April).

Good city centre hotel

Posted Sep 8, 2013
Pros: Convenient, clean, friendly.
Cons: I would prefer a shower head holder on the wall but was fine. Don't know if it would be too hot in August due to no air con. 30degrees was no problem.
Location: City centre. 5 mins walk to station and canal du midi boats
I stayed for four nights in early September. I arrived at the hotel at 11am and was able to leave my suitcase securely until check in at 3pm. The owner was at the desk and offered me a map and showed me where the market etc was on it. I found them extremely helpful, friendly and informative. The room was a good size and clean. Just one minute walk to the main pedestrian shopping street, so very convenient. Would recommend and would stay again.
