Owner operator was very pleasant. The hotel was dated but clean. The recommendation on the restaurant was not a very good one. Other than that it was fine for the price the bed was comfortable and I did like the pillows.

The hotel is just outside of Carcassonne and in perfect walking distance to the old city. The hosts were very attentive and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Easy To Park, Quaint Hotel
Our experience of Carcassonne was not what we had hoped mostly due to the torrential rain that made sight seeing impossible. Also, we could not find anywhere for a meal until after 7pm. At the hotel, the room was pretty squashy and nowhere to sit comfortably. There was a dining table downstairs but no lounge or bar area. Hot water was great, bed was ok and breakfast was adequate. The owner was very hospitable and accommodating where possible. Parking the car was a dream as the hotel has it’s own carpark.k

The wifi in this hotel is not the best and the outlets are also not great for American electronics with converters. We had to rig up a situation where we had to press the bed against our plugs to shove them into the walls, and all night our cell phones lit up repeatedly as the charge came and went. The beds aren't the most comfortable, with only one long pillow. It's a bit expensive when you consider this and also the fact that breakfast is not included. In general I'd pass for the price.

Madam or Sir, it is not easy to answer an anonymous notice because we do not know which room you had. We are very surprised for the quality of the bed because it is one of our strong point. You just had to open the wardrobe of your room to find extra pillows ... As for plugs they are French standards but we have adapters for all countries of the world graciously available at the reception as indicated on the welcome file that is in each room and translated into English. To conclude, there is a person present at the reception 24/24 H which is available to customers but if you do not ask anything, it will not be guessed that you have not opened the wardrobe to find extra pillows nor do you need an electric adapter! We hope that you will find during your next stay in Carcassonne a hotel that better suits your personality.

A wonderful little hotel with excellent staff /owners. The room was very nice and the bed was the most comfortable we slept in compared to the other places we stayed while in France. There are many good restaurants within walking distance and the petite train / trolley that takes you to directly the medieval city and castle stop is right across the street

Charming & restful
The hotel has a family run charm to it and the staff were delightful and very helpful. It is within walking distance of the city center (not the city walls! that's 20 min walk). If you are driving through Carcassonne and staying the night I would recommend it!

Hotel Montesgur had an old world charm that is lost in modern hotels today. It was in a quiet location on the edge of the new city and the main square was just a five minute walk away and the old city is about a twenty minute walk. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the parking was great. The only negative is that the room we stayed in must have had the smallest, hardest bed in the world!! Other than that we had a lovely stay at this hotel.

Charming hotel run by charming owners
Family run hotel with friendly and helpful management. Located across the street from little train going to old City. Within easy walking distance of la Bastide, canal cruises and the train station. Whatever we wanted the owners accomodated us. A nice change from larger impersonal chains.

Hotel Monsegur
Hotel ok. Staff helpful and lovely. But our room was 90 sq ft and the bathroom was tiny. There weren't enough surfaces to open both suitcases, and if someone was using the tiny desk, you had to climb on the bed to get around.

Great location for public transportation
The airport shuttle drops you right across the street. We walked from the hotel to everywhere we wanted to go. The hotel is old but it is clean and the family who runs it speak English and are so helpful.

We had a great stay at this hotel. They have their own dedicated parking area which was welcomed. We had a family room which had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One had a single bed and bunk bed, the other had a double bed. It was fantastic to have a separate room the kids could sleep in. The location was great too. Only a ten minute drive up to the old castle part of town. The staff was very helpful and gave us directions and dining suggestions.

Pleasant stay
We stayed for 2 nights and found the hotel easily. With nice, friendly, helpful staff, good location. Great free parking. The land train stop is just outside, handy for getting to the Cite Medieval. Pillows and bed were quite hard (found extra softer pillows in the cupboard as we were leaving! Room was small but clean and functional. Breakfast was nice. Would stay again.

Charming family-run hotel
A pleasant old-style charming hotel in the lower town, about 25 minutes walk from the old city. The rooms are not large but were comfortable, and the owners/managers made an effort with the 'personal touch'.

Walking to the castle and the canal
The room had adequate space by European standards. The building itself was charming, the area of town not so much. the staff were most helpful. After 3 days even the area of town grew on us, and the castle was quite accessible by car or on foot.

Pleasant old provincial style hotel on edge of city, easy walk to station if have good directions, easy walk to centre square which is only place to get meals before 8.00 pm.for castle viewing there are good hotels very much closer.

Nice looking Hotel could do with a bit of upgrading that said place has nice feel near to bus stops & the little train stops outside to take you up to the old town of carcassonne a must see for anyone . Staff very nice & very helpfull short walk to resturants & shops but check times of opening if you are used to a 24 hour city

We loved the hotel. It is in a good location, walking distance, for us, to the old town and the walled city. The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. And the staff were really friendly and helpful. Finally, the breakfasts are great!

Nice hotel in walking distance to the Castle.
Nice hotel on the very edge of the old city center. We were not impressed with the city at all, but the walled Castle was incredible. It is a nice easy walk to the Castle if you are a walker or an easy drive from the hotel. Eat at one of the many good restaurants within the walled city and Castle. They have free parking at the hotel though the parking spots are very tight. We had a big car but we managed ok. Staff very friendly and their English was good enough for us to communicate. We walked to a local bakery for breakfast. The hotel is located on a busy street and with the windows closed you don't hear the traffic. Their air conditioning is poor or it was in our room so we had to open the windows at night. Fresh air was great but street noise was louder than we would have liked. Overall a decent place to stay in our opinion. It fully met our expectations.

A good hotel in Carcassonne
I've stayed at Hotel Montsegur twice previously. I like it. The location is convenient; close to restaurants and bars, ten minute walk from railway station, 20 minute walk from the medieval town. Hotel has its own car park. The decor is quaint 19th century but bathroom amenities are modern. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely old building close to Carcassonne New Town.
A beautiful building standing in its own grounds with private parking available for guests. We were greeted very warmly by the receptionist upon our arrival. We shared a family room for 3 people and although it was not spacious it was enough for our overnight stay. The bathroom was very small . However, there was plenty of hot water and enough toiletries for each of us to have two showers/baths. The Hotel is situated on the intersection of two roads and because of this it is very noisy until the early hours of the morning when the traffic settles down. Coupled with a noisy air conditioning unit this was not conducive to a good night's sleep.The breakfast was not included in the overnight stay and cost 10 euros per person. It was not worth the money and the service was only just acceptable. The Hotel location is very good for visiting the new town of Carcassonne and also for La Cite (if you like a long walk). There are several good restaurants nearby.
