Nicest hotel on our trip so far!

Posted Sep 6, 2014
Pros: The location was fabulous and the room was very comfortable.
Cons: Had a few problems with Yahoo email but Internet connection was fine.
Location: Very convenient for train station, Cardiff Castle and shopping district.
The Maldron is very conveniently located just a few steps from the train station, and within walking distance of the Castle and shopping areas. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and the staff were excellent -- quite friendly and helpful. We felt like we were in the Taj Mahal after our tiny hotel room in London!

Good hotel, near station

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: The furnishings and decor were new and attractive.
Cons: Difficult to get taxi near due to position of hotel
Location: Near station, cafe area, shopping mall and Millenium stadium
My husband had painful ankle and we were given a disabled room with lots of support in the bathroom. The hotel was near the cafe area.

Lovely hotel for Cardiff City Centre

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Great location and friendly staff and very reasonable price.
Cons: n/a
Location: Couldn't be any closer to the train station and Cardiff Primark was ten minutes walk away!
Lovely room and staff service was exceptional. Free wifi in the bar let us do some work whilst waiting for our train on departure day. Free bag storage meant we were clutter free whilst we waited and the staff were very helpful in giving us ideas (and a map) for shopping in the morning.

Lovely hotel in the center of Cardiff

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: The full size single bed was great as I've had to stay on sofa beds when 3 of us stayed in other hotels. Great location, nice clean modern hotel
Cons: NA
Location: Hotel is close to the shops and nightlife. There are lots of places to visit like Cardiff Castle and with Cardiff Bay only a short distance away.
Wanted a hotel in the center of Cardiff for an overnight stay as we were meeting friends for a night out around the town. Met up in the Great Western pub which is right opposite the hotel so the position of the hotel was ideal. 3 of us stayed in one room it was a good size with a double bed and one full size single which was a bonus as most hotels only offer sofa beds for the 3rd person. The room was very clean and tidy and beds were comfortable. Also happy to see a hairdryer, an iron and full size ironing board in the room. These were used quite a lot between the 3 of us! We will definitely stay in this hotel again on any future overnight stays in Cardiff.

Central

Posted Jul 25, 2014
Cons: Training of staff
Location: Cardiff castle very interesting, lots and lots of pubs, lots of druggies and drunks hanging around
No where to drop off and leave luggage, have to drag it from nearest car park. Staff in dining room quite rude near more training

Hotel smells of stale smoke

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Location: Smack bang in the centre of town.
We booked months in advance for my daughters graduation the following day at cardiff uni. We were on 4th floor both my husband and I stayed in one room and my daughter and her partner in another. Both rooms and the whole landing infact reeked of smoke. During the night we kept waking up with the smell of the stale smoke and on calling reception we were told that it was a smoking floor. Really!!! These days there is no such thing. I would highly recommend that you do not stay there if you wish to be of good health because 2 days later we are still dealing with the effects of that night in those rooms. Sore throats, tight chest, nasal and eye irritation. To top it all we were not offered any sort of refund.

Excellent city centre hotel

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The option of smoking bedrooms and the location.
Cons: Provision of small fridge in the rooms.
Location: Ideal location for all city centre activities.
Very convenient location 200 yards from Cardiff Central station and a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants. The only hotel in Cardiff with the option of smoking bedrooms. Good value for money.
