They need to renovate this place.

It was not what i expected from Marriot, the room is noisy as you can hear the noise comming from the pubs. Old rooms, no mini bar. Air condition was not good enough to keep the room cooler. The bed matress was not firm. I asked the reception staff for the internet password and if it is free or not, he said it will cost me £15 !!! Breakfast, few choices, the quality of the coffee was not good. The only good thing was the room was clean. Not recomending it, for less money you can get to better places around.

Nice and close to the city centre

Pros: I loved that it was so close to the city centre where you can do all your shopping and where all the restaurants are.
Cons: Nothing
Location: The shopping centre is the best thing to do in the area.
The staff was really helpful, I arrived with multiple pieces of luggage and they insisted on assisting me with taking it upstairs which was absolutely fantastic, if I were to stay somewhere in Cardiff again I would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable Hotel central to town centre

Cons: The hospitality from staff at breakfast.
Location: The hotel is central to the shops, wine bars & restaurants etc.
We booked the hotel for the family last minute to do some shopping & take our daughter to the fun fair near Cardiff bay & had a lovely, comfortable & relaxing stay.

Pros: It's a very short walk into town. Despite it being a busy Friday night with lots of people outside, the room was quiet. Terrific staff!
Cons: Our wardrobe doors had been derailed and when I tried to open them, one trapped my hand. They should check these things more regularly.
Location: Great location practically in town. St David's Hall, Cardiff Bay, New Theatre, Millennium Centre, great shopping centre, museum, Cardiff Castle.
I was visiting Cardiff for a reunion of my old county youth orchestra and choir and as our concert was to take place at St David's Hall, I wanted a good hotel within walking distance of the concert hall which also had a secure car park. I hadn't stayed at the Cardiff Marriott before and I was very impressed from the word 'go'. The receptionist was a young man from Budapest, very funny and friendly. We were offered help with our bags but they weren't heavy so we chose to take them up ourselves. Our room on the 5th floor was nice and the shower was reasonably powerful (often not the case). I was mostly impressed with the staff, both on reception and at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble, I was brought warm soya milk, cold soya milk and when they ran out of hash browns, the lady suggested I sit back down and brought me enough freshly made hash browns for all three of us on our table! The breakfast buffet was pretty good, lots of cereals, yogurts, fruit and a good selection of hot food too. I thought the service was excellent, dirty dishes and glasses were cleared away quickly and not left cluttering up the table. All in all, a most enjoyable visit and a hotel I would certainly book again in the future.

A tired hotel with dates rooms

For a Marriott hotel this place is really disappointing. The rooms are 10 years past their refurbish-by date, with the mini-bar door screwed shut and a tired old bathroom suite from the early 90s. They charge £15 for 24 hours' wifi which is outrageous in 2014.

Great hotel, central location, super restaurant

Pros: All of it = especially the staff
Cons: An extra blanket/duvet in the room (as we were a little chilly from all the rain...)
Location: Cardiff Castle is great - spend the extra £3 and see the apartments - they are super! Dr Who experience - a great time to be had by any one!
Booked this online as a bit of a treat, and was delighted!! The room was great, beds were huge and so comfortable, the bathroom a delight. The restaruant was great, super menu and delicious food, but best ofg all were the staff. Everyone was really helpful and kind and went a little extra. The Bar staff were particulalry good and the recommendation for cocktails was lovely!! Try the Bombay Bramble - its delicious! Its a great hotel and I will definately be staying again!

Pros: Clean, modern , comfortable rooms. Pleasant staff. Private off-street parking.
Cons: Don't expect to pay for wi-fi in the room in the 21st century- though free in reception.
Modern hotel in the centre of Cardiff with clean comfortable rooms and good restaurant. Arrived quite late -8.45 pm -but still able to have leisurely dinner with local products. Breakfast also excellent with eggs cooked to order.

No room for us when we arrived!!!!!!

We booked this room approx. 3 months ago as we needed to be sure we would be staying in central Cardiff on the night in question, in readiness for our daughters graduation the next morning. Our booking paperwork clearly stated that 'room guaranteed for late arrival' and 'no need to re-confirm late arrival' and we paid in full in advance. However, when we arrived to check in at 11 p.m. we were told the hotel was full and we were going to be provided with accommodation 1 hour away in CHEPSTOW!!!!!!!!! We were horrified and argued vociferously with the reception staff at the Cardiff hotel. They told us they had tried to find alternative accommodation in Cardiff but nothing at all was available. They did provide us with a taxi to and from Chepstow, but this completely spoiled our plans for meeting our daughters for breakfast and being ready for a lovely graduation day. As it was, we got to bed at 1 a.m. and were up again at 7 in order to be ready for the early taxi to take us back to Cardiff city again. What a fiasco!!!!! How can any hotel do this, yet have their paperwork clearly state that this wont happen!!!????

Pros: Comfort in the room.
Cons: General dusting and cleaning in Hotel. Change the Menu regularly. Ask staff NOT to call guests as "Chaps" or "Guys"
Location: Great for location in the centre for shopping and sight seeing.
Everything in the room was excellent including tea and coffee making facilities and comfort. Cleanliness in our room was excellent but in the hotel in general many areas needed cleaning. I requested a Gluten Free diet and found that they provided a good knowledge throughout the staff in the dining room and kitchen and were able to serve most things. However the Menu in general remains the same all the time and is limited. Breakfast was what you would expect but it would have been nice to have eggs cooked fresh while you wait. In general not the best breakfast but not poor either.

Great location

Pros: Super staff who really made you feel welcome.
Cons: The bed (executive level) was extremely hard to the point you could feel the springs through the mattress.
Great, central location handy to bars, cafes, restaurants, shopping and sights.
